Attention should be paid to watering azaleas

Last Updated: 2024/11/08, Rhododendron is an acidic shallow-rooted flower with dense whisker roots as thin as hair. Like moist, avoid dry, afraid of waterlogging, rhododendron watering should do: first, use slightly acidic water. Azaleas like slightly acidic water, avoid alkaline water, it is best to water with soft water, because the inorganic salts such as calcium and magnesium contained in hard water often bring harm to normal physiological activities. Rain Water, river, lake and pond water are called soft water, which are generally weakly acidic or neutral, suitable for watering flowers. Second, use "trapped water". At present, tap water and deep well water are commonly used in family flower cultivation. Most of these two kinds of water are hard water.

Rhododendron is an acidic shallow-rooted flower with dense whisker roots as thin as hair. Like moist, avoid dryness, afraid of waterlogging, rhododendron watering should do:

Use slightly acidic water.

At present, tap water and deep well water are commonly used in family flower cultivation, which are mostly hard water and often contain chloride ions, which is disadvantageous to the growth of flowers. If there are conditions, tap water should be poured into the tank and stored for 5-7 days before use. The "trapped water" should be dried at the same temperature of the azaleas.

Third, no work, no watering. One of the keys to watering azaleas is not to dry or water them. What is dry? This can not only see whether the surface of the basin soil is dry or not, it is more important to knock on the basin and listen to the sound, which is wet when the sound is dull and dry when the sound is crisp.

Fourth, the water must be thoroughly watered. How can it be thoroughly watered? Planting cuckoos generally leave a nozzle of about 1 inch, and in most cases it can be permeated as long as it is fully watered. But if the soil is flat with the basin mouth or the nozzle is too shallow, it will be difficult to pour it through at one time. Some large basin soil dry, there is a gap around, easy to run water, see water leakage under the basin, but only wet the upper layer and around, the basin soil is not thoroughly watered, should be watered again at this time.

The five and four seasons are different. In spring and autumn, azaleas are in the growing period, so sufficient water must be ensured, especially in spring, watering times should be relatively increased, and foliar and ground should be sprayed frequently to maintain environmental humidity and reduce foliar water transpiration. The temperature is high in summer and the water evaporates quickly, so it can be watered once in the morning and evening. In winter, the physiological activity of rhododendron is greatly weakened, and it does not need too much water, as long as the pot soil is kept dry, which is beneficial to overwintering.
