Key points of sowing techniques of garlic

Now it is the sowing season of garlic, now the sowing technology of garlic is briefly introduced as follows, for farmers' reference. First, choose improved varieties. At present, the main varieties planted in our county are Songcheng garlic, Songcheng white garlic and Cangshan garlic and so on. Songcheng white garlic is the first choice for export. Cangshan garlic is a mid-late ripening variety with both bolting and head use. Choose garlic with medium size, few cloves, no mildew and no moth.

First, choose improved varieties. At present, the main varieties planted in our county are Songcheng garlic, Songcheng white garlic and Cangshan garlic and so on. Songcheng white garlic is the first choice for export. Cangshan garlic is a mid-late ripening variety with both bolting and head use. Garlic seeds with medium height, few cloves, mildew-free and moth-free should be selected for sowing. Garlic with cloves cannot be sown.

Second, the suitable sowing time. Garlic is a kind of crop that likes cold and cool. When sowing too early, it will emerge slowly because it is still in dormant period. After emergence, the cold resistance of garlic seedlings will be greatly weakened because of high temperature in the early stage and excessive growth before winter. And the lower leaves of the plant are easy to wither and yellow and senescence prematurely in the later growth stage. If sowing too late, the garlic seedlings are smaller and the cold resistance is weak before overwintering. It is appropriate for our city to sow seeds before and after the Autumn Equinox. The seedlings can be collected about 10 days after sowing, and the plants can have 5 to 6 leaves before overwintering, and the cold resistance is strong.

Third, prepare the land and sow seeds. Choose soft, fertile, well-drained sandy soil, the former crop is onion, leek plot is not suitable to grow garlic. The previous crop should be fertilized in time after harvest. 500 kg of rotten chicken manure and 50 kg of diammonium can be applied per mu, and ploughed and raked flat after application to make a high border with a height of 10 cm and a top width of 50 cm. In the level of 50 cm wide high border, open 4 ditches with the same depth of 6 cm, put garlic cloves at a distance of about 10 cm, then cover the soil, fill the ditch, and then water the root. The sowing rate ranges from 100 kg to 125 kg per mu.

Fourth, cover the plastic film. In general, after garlic sowing and emergence, the air temperature and ground temperature have begun to decline. Covering with 80 cm wide plastic film can obviously increase the temperature and prevent the cold. When covering, first straighten the film and bury it in the soil, then aim at the seedling to break the membrane, and hook the seedling out one by one with a wire hook.

Spraying herbicides. From 2 to 3 days after sowing, 50 ml to 60 ml of 24% fruit per mu and 50 kg of water were sprayed evenly throughout the field. Pay attention to walking backwards when spraying, so as not to damage the medicine film in the border and reduce the weeding effect.
