What is the reason for the garlic clump?
Recently, most of the garlic in Anqiu, Cangshan, Zhucheng and other places have been harvested garlic bolts, at this time the underground garlic can still grow for a period of time, but according to the above-mentioned vegetable farmers, there is an abnormal growth condition of garlic, that is, the phenomenon of clump.
In this regard, researcher Liu Mingjie, chief expert of Shouguang vegetable Association and Shandong vegetable Weekly of Rural masses, personally went down to the field to investigate the bad growth of garlic. The specific manifestation is that at the junction of the leaf sheath and leaves of the garlic plant, there are 1 to 6 new leaves. After pulling out several bad plants in the field, it was found that the garlic cloves sprouted and grew new leaves and drilled out of the ground along the gap in the leaf sheath. each garlic clove varied from 1 to 6 cloves. Therefore, from the aboveground point of view, the garlic plants showed a tufted phenomenon.
So, why on earth did this bad growth occur, and how can this phenomenon be avoided? teacher Liu Mingjie said that in order to understand this problem, we must first understand the normal growth environment and principle of garlic, and then analyze it in combination with the actual production.
1. According to the relevant data, the growth process of garlic can be divided into six stages: germination stage, seedling stage, scale bud differentiation stage, garlic bolting stage, bulb expansion stage and dormancy stage. The growth process of garlic varies greatly according to different sowing dates. The growth period of spring sowing garlic is short, 90,100 days, while that of autumn sowing garlic is 220,240 days. The sprouting period of garlic generally takes about 10 to 15 days from sowing under dormancy to primary leaves. The seedling stage from primary leaves to growth to no longer differentiate leaves, autumn sowing garlic is 5-6 months, spring sowing garlic is only about 25 days. The differentiation period of flower bud and scale bud is from the beginning of flower bud and scale bud differentiation to the end of differentiation, which is called "petal period" in production, which usually takes 10 to 15 days. Garlic bulbs mature, that is, the garlic will enter the dormant period after harvest, which usually takes about 60 days. The length of dormancy period is related to varieties. Generally, the dormancy period of early-maturing varieties is about 65-75 days, while that of late-maturing varieties is 35-45 days. Garlic is cultivated in the field in various parts of Shandong Province, which belongs to asexual reproduction.
Second, according to the investigation and production and preliminary analysis by experts on the growth characteristics of garlic, due to the abnormal climate of last autumn and winter and this spring, garlic grew vigorously, and the split production was completed in a relatively short time, coupled with sufficient fertilizer and water in autumn and winter, some cloves were not harvested, and the dormancy period was completed underground, and then primary leaves grew this spring, that is, some garlic clumps appeared. In popular terms, it is equivalent to planting garlic twice from last year to this spring.
Preventive measures:
1. Adjust the sowing date appropriately. Appropriate late sowing, due to the continuous aggravation of warm autumn and warm winter, vegetable farmers can appropriately sow late for 10-15 days. If the temperature is normal, sow and manage according to the normal sowing time.
2. it can not be covered with plastic film. After covering the plastic film, it promotes the growth and development of garlic before the year, and it is easy to complete the division period prematurely. It is easy to produce secondary plants in the coming year. In order to prevent the occurrence of freezing injury, wheat straw can be covered in the field in the coldest time.
3. Appropriately reduce the fertilizer and water management before the year. Before the Spring Festival, as long as it can ensure the emergence of garlic seedlings and the basic survival of the need for fat and water, can not be too large to lead to the premature development of garlic.

Garlic has a viral disease.
Dai Hongming, Baimi Town, Jiangyan City, called on December 1 to say that his 2 mu of garlic was in the 5-6 leaf stage. Recently, 50% of the plants in the field had yellow and distorted leaves, their roots were white, and herbicides had not been used in the early stage. He asked what was wrong with garlic and how to prevent it. On December 3, Agricultural Technology 001 Studio received the sick garlic seedlings he sent by express mail. Careful examination of the diseased seedlings showed that the diseased seedlings were roughly at the stage of 3-5 leaves, and there were intermittent short yellow-green stripes on 1-2 leaves at the base, and some of the leaf tips were already

Early management of garlic in spring
The field management of garlic in spring mainly refers to the management from the rise of temperature in spring to the harvest period. This period is not only the bulb expansion period of garlic, but also the period of frequent occurrence of diseases and insect pests. Therefore, doing a good job in the management of this period is of great significance for the bumper harvest of garlic. First, fertilizer and water management: the application of fertilizer should grasp the principle of invigorating and promoting weakness. At the same time, fill the "two water", that is, green water, bulb swelling water. Generally speaking, after the garlic turns green, the growing plots apply little or no fertilizer; the plots with yellow seedlings and weak growth should be combined with watering.
