The age of sexual maturity of silver carp is 1-2 years earlier than that of grass carp. Mature individuals are also small, generally more than 3 kilograms of female fish can reach maturity. Silver carp is also a large fish, which can weigh up to 30-40 kilograms in natural rivers. Under the condition of pond culture, if the bait is sufficient, the weight of 1-year-old fish can reach about 0.8 kg. Suitable for the market of edible silver carp, the body weight of 1.5-2 kg is better.
