A new cotton variety "Chuanmian 65"
Chuanmian 65 was selected by the Institute of Economic crops, Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, (641400 Jianyang). In June 2002, it was approved by Sichuan crop Variety approval Committee and officially named "Chuanmian 65".
The variety was identified by the regional test in Sichuan Province from 1998 to 1999. The Verticillium wilt index of the variety was 18.4-18.5, with an average of 18.5, which was 63.2% lower than that of Simian 2, and showed resistance to Verticillium wilt. The index of Fusarium wilt was 4.9-8.6, with an average of 6.8, which was 86.4% lower than that of Simian 2, and showed high resistance to Fusarium wilt. According to the continuous identification of cotton leaf mites in Huazhong Agricultural University from 1999 to 2001, the grade of cotton leaf mites was 1.29,1.39, with an average of 1.33, which was 42.2% lower than that of the control Emian 18, showing resistance to cotton leaf mites. The seed damage rate of cotton red bollworm is 6.3-9.0%, with an average of 8.1%, which is 50.6% lower than that of the control Emian 18, showing resistance to cotton red bollworm.
The samples were sent to Sichuan Province from 1998 to 1999 and tested by the Cotton quality Supervision Center of the Ministry of Agriculture. The results showed that each fiber index was significantly better than that of Chuanmian 56, which conformed to the national standard of high quality cotton fiber.
The variety belongs to mid-early maturity upland cotton with a growth period of about 135 days; the plant is of medium height, tower type, compact plant type and robust growth; leaves are medium large and slightly light in color; strong boll setting, concentrated flowering and boll setting, large bolls, slightly pointed egg orchard shape, smooth spitting, less rotten bolls, lint white; single boll weight 5.4 grams, lint percentage 43.0%, lint index 6.6 grams, seed index 8.7 grams.

Han 6208, a new transgenic insect-resistant cotton variety bred by Handan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (postcode: 056001, telephone: 0310-8161725), recently passed the variety approval in Hebei Province. The growth period of this variety is 131.5 days, with 13.9 bolls per plant, 5.8g boll weight and 10.65g seed index. The lint percentage is 41.2% and the pre-frost flowering rate is 92.5%. Resistant to cotton bollworm, red bollworm and other Lepidoptera pests. Resistant to Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt. Micronaire value 5.0, specific strength 28.3%

A New Cotton Variety Yinmian 2
The whole growth period of Yinjin 2 in Dafeng is 135 days, which is 2 days longer than Xiangzamian 8 and Siza 3; the plant height is 112 cm, the initial node of fruit branch is 7.2 nodes, and there are 21 fruit branches per plant; the average number of bolls per plant is 44.3, prefrost flower rate is 72.5%, lint percentage is 39.4%, seed index is 9.5 grams; medium boll size, boll weight 5.7 grams, thin bell shell, smooth boll opening. The yield of seed cotton and lint cotton per mu was 316.2 kg and 125kg respectively, which was 2.3% and 9.5% higher than that of Xiangza 8 and Siza 3, respectively.
