A New Cotton Variety-Nannongzao
Crop type: cotton
Variety name: Nannongzao
Characteristics: plant tower type, main stem straight, fluffy, brown toward the sunny side, leaf defect obvious, fruit branch slightly raised, bell oval, pointed, single boll weight 5.2 g, lint percentage 43.3%, lint index 7.3 g, seed index 9.5 g. The mid-early maturing variety has a growth period of about 136days, resistant to Fusarium wilt, resistant to Verticillium wilt, fiber quality: 2.5% span length 29.7mm, specific strength 19.6cN/tex, micronaire value 4.4.
Yield performance: participated in the regional test of wheat interplanting cotton in the Yellow River Basin from 1999 to 2000, the average yields per mu of seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint were 175.9 kg, 76.2kg and 65.6kg respectively, and the yield of seed cotton was 5.6% lower than that of the control variety Zhongmiansuo 19. lint and pre-frost lint increased by 4.2% and 3.6%, respectively. In the production test in 2001, the average yield per mu of seed cotton, lint and pre-frost lint was 191.4 kg, 84.9kg and 78.8kg respectively, which increased by 5.3%, 14.0% and 10.4% respectively over the control varieties. Field production generally produces about 80 kilograms of lint per mu.
The main points of cultivation techniques are as follows: (1) seeding in seedbed from April 5 to 25, transplanting at the end of May and early June; direct seeding in summer for stubble, and sowing around May 25. (2) after transplanting wheat with cotton and wheat (oil) stubble, the density per mu is about 3000 plants, the number of fields with insufficient soil fertility or late transplanting can be increased to 3500 plants, and direct seeding in summer is 3500-4000 plants. (3) in the field management, it is required that the front should be stable and medium, the seedling bed and field should be fully fertilized, the fertilizer and water management before and after planting should be strengthened, the water of living plants should be watered, the fertilizer for raising seedlings should be well applied, the soil should be ploughed and loosened in time to promote the early development of strong seedlings, and the fertilizer of flower and boll should be applied early in early July, and the strong peach fertilizer should be applied again in early August when the cotton plant enters the flowering stage. (4) appropriate amount of chemical adjustment, timely prevention and control of insect pests, bud and boll protection, promotion of early peach bearing and early boll opening.
