A Woody Flower with Saline-alkali Resistance--Robinia pseudoacacia
Hairy Robinia pseudoacacia, also known as Jiangnan Robinia pseudoacacia, belongs to the deciduous shrub of Robinia pseudoacacia of Leguminosae. Its stems, twigs, pedicels and petioles all have red bristles, hence the name Robinia pseudoacacia. Its leaves are similar to Robinia pseudoacacia, the odd-pinnate compound leaves are alternate, and the leaflets are broadly oval. Corolla butterfly, pink or purplish red. Flowering in May, pods are mostly rudimentary. Robinia pseudoacacia is often used as rootstock for the propagation of Robinia pseudoacacia. High branch grafting is generally selected. After survival, it grows very fast, the crown expands outward in the shape of an umbrella, and the next year the tree is full of flowers, which is very beautiful. Artificially, Robinia pseudoacacia can blossom twice a year by cutting off all the top tips of the branches in the first and middle of June after the first flowering in spring, so that a large number of buds appear at the beginning of July and bloom for the second time.

Robinia pseudoacacia is a new variety of locust discovered and bred from the natural population of Robinia pseudoacacia by Qiu Yanchang and other experts from the College of Agriculture of Liaocheng University (Tel: 0635-8238266). This variety passed the substantive examination of new plant variety DUS organized by the New Variety Protection Office of State Forestry Administration in July 2007. it was granted the right of new plant variety in October and became another new variety of Robinia pseudoacacia with independent intellectual property rights. Excellent characteristics of varieties: the flowers of common Robinia pseudoacacia are white or yellowish, but there are few others.
