Dengmai 996 was bred from Zhoumai 11 mutant line by Henan Xiantianxia Seed Co., Ltd., approval number: Yushenmai 2007008.

Characteristics: Early maturity variety with weak spring sex, growth period about 204 days, same as Yumai 18. Seedling semi-erect, cold resistance, medium tillering ability, high panicle rate. Plant height 84 cm, stem elasticity is good, more resistant to lodging. Compact plant type, flag leaves up, ear layer neat, mature yellow good. Spike spindle shape, long awn, white grain. Semi-horny seeds, plump, high bulk density, low black embryo rate. The three yield factors are coordinated, the panicle number per mu is 397,600, the grain number per panicle is 38.8, and the 1000-grain weight is 39.4 g.

Yield performance In 2006~2007, we participated in the production experiment of southern group of Henan Province, with an average yield of 476.4 kg per mu, which was 7.5% higher than that of Yumai 18.

Resistance identification medium resistance to leaf blight, stripe rust, leaf rust, moderate susceptibility to powdery mildew, sheath blight.

The main cultivation points are suitable for planting in the rice and wheat double cropping area in the south of our province. The suitable sowing time is October 15~28. The suitable sowing amount per mu for high fertility plots is 8~9 kg, and the sowing amount for medium and low fertility plots can be increased appropriately. If the sowing is delayed, it is appropriate to increase the sowing amount by 0.5 kg per mu for every 3 days delayed. Apply enough base fertilizer, weed in time before returning to green period, pay attention to pest control. From heading to filling stage, potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution should be sprayed in time to promote large and full grains.
