The country of origin is the middle and lower reaches of the Amazon. The fish is 4 cm ~ 5 cm long, spindle-shaped, flattened laterally. The anal fin is extended and the caudal fin is forked. The body color is very bright, and the back is yellowish green. The fish is characterized by a wide blue longitudinal band from the posterior edge of the eye to the tail stalk and a wide red patch below the longitudinal band, which is very eye-catching. The fins are colorless and transparent.

The optimum water temperature is 22 ℃ ~ 24 ℃ and prefers acidic water quality. In order to maintain its bright body color, it is necessary to often throw some animal bait. The fish is gentle, suitable for raising in groups, and its swimming posture is lively and cheerful.

The baby lotus lantern fish is sexually mature from 6 months to 8 months old. The mature female fish is wider and the abdomen is inflated than the male fish, while the male fish is narrow and thin, but the color is brighter than the female fish. It is easy to distinguish between looking down and looking sideways. When breeding, choose a fish with a body length of about 5 cm as parent fish.
