Last Updated: 2024/11/05, A sapling which is less than 10 centimeters long and only looks like a pea seedling, planted on a barren land where nothing grows, can leap up to more than 3 meters high in a year. This is based on the introduction of foreign tree species by the Luyuan Seedling Research and extension Center of Changyi City, Shandong Province and the experts of Beijing Forestry University. a new type of tree species, multiple system locust, which is suitable for planting in western China, has been successfully cultivated by plant tissue culture technology. It has become a popular "golden tree seedling" because of its excellent resistance to drought, salt and alkali and barren.

A small sapling less than 10 cm long, only like a pea seedling, planted in barren land where nothing grows, can jump more than 3 meters high in a year. This is a new type of tree species suitable for planting in western China, which was successfully cultivated by experts from Changyi City, Shandong Province and Beijing Forestry University on the basis of introducing foreign tree species and adopting plant tissue culture technology. It has become a "golden sapling" with excellent drought resistance, saline-alkali resistance and barren resistance. Luyuan Center in Changyi City, Shandong Province has also developed into the largest scientific research and production base of "polyploid locust" in China.

Since July last year, under the guidance of Luo Xiaofang and Tian Yanting, professors of Beijing Forestry University, Luyuan Center of Changyi City has invested more than 2 million yuan successively to introduce new locust tree species from Hungary and South Korea. According to the needs of western development, advanced plant tissue culture technology has been used to select locust tree species with drought resistance, salt alkali resistance and barren thin soil resistance, and has been successful. Three series of polyploid locust varieties have been bred for forage, nectar and timber.

Now, under the careful guidance of experts from Beijing Forestry University and strong support from all sides, the center has rapidly developed into the largest research and production base of "polyploid locust" in China, and nearly 1 million polyploid locust seedlings have been transported to western provinces and cities.
