What is the "high pressure" breeding method of rhododendron?
Rhododendron "high pressure" breeding method is also known as plastic bag high pressure method:
First, select any part of the branch that grows vigorously for 1 ~ 3 years, and the length of the ring peeling part can be determined according to the thickness of the branch. If the branch is as thick and thin as chopsticks, the length of the skin can be removed at 0.51cm. The branch is thinner and the length can be shorter. The peeling tool can use the right thumbnail, after the selected part. Gently peel it from top to bottom, or use a knife to carve a circle around the upper and lower ends, then gently peel off the cortex.
Second, after the ring peeling, surround the peeling area with a plastic film about 6mi 8cm long and 5mi 6cm wide to form a cylinder, and the lower end is first fastened with thread or lead wire. Usually, it is best to spray some water on the leaf surface when watering, so that the water slowly seeps into the plastic bag from the branches and leaves, increasing the humidity in the bag, but be careful not to be too wet, can be partial to some, it is too wet to heal and take root slowly.
Third, the time to adopt the above-mentioned "high pressure" method: spring cuckoos, such as western rhododendron and hairy leaf rhododendron, can be carried out after flower fade, and summer cuckoo can take shape in June after flower fade. Generally, after 3-4 months, it can take root, and the survival rate can reach more than 90%. Then cut off the plastic bag, gently remove the wire or lead wire, peel off the plastic film, and plant it in other pots, so as to become a new rhododendron plant and produce bright flowers the next year.
