Causes and prevention of halitosis in pet dogs

Last Updated: 2024/11/24, The breath of a healthy dog has no smell, but the smell of fish exhaled by a dog after eating is normal (just like people have the smell of food after a meal, so gargling after a meal is very important, hehe). If the dog really has bad breath, please observe whether your dog has the following symptoms: 1. Does the dog drool? If there is, it may be oral infection or gum disease, especially in dogs during the tooth replacement period, bad breath will also occur when discolored old teeth (non-white) cannot fall off automatically, and a doctor should be asked to remove the old teeth. 2. Are the dog teeth dirty? If so, it's because of the teeth.

2. Are the dog teeth dirty? If so, the reason is tartar.

3. Is there an oral ulcer? Could be an oral infection.

Does the dog vomit? Could be stomach trouble.

5. Does the dog have a spasm? Could be vitamin deficiency.

In other words, the following causes can lead to bad breath: oral infection, dental caries, ulcers, indigestion, vitamin B deficiency.

Treatment of dog halitosis: find the right time to take your dog to a trusted doctor for diagnosis, ask the doctor about the true health of the dog, and treat the dog as required by the doctor.

Knowledge of the disease--

About dental caries: regular feeding of soft and canned foods to dogs can easily lead to dental caries. These foods cause tartar around the dog's teeth, tartar causes gingivitis, and bacteria enter the alveoli and cause periodontal disease. As a result, the teeth are loose and the dental nerves are necrotic, so it is necessary to pull out the teeth. (you see, it's no different from the formation of dental caries in humans.)

If your dog is young, you can try to help him form the habit of brushing his teeth. find an assistant and gently raise the dog's upper lip with his index finger and thumb up (the assistant's palm is above the dog's head, pay attention to the strength, of course. His other hand needs to hold the dog), you put your index finger into the dog's lower incisors, press down gently, and wash the dog with a brine-soaked children's toothbrush once a week.

About indigestion: if the dog has mild indigestion, you can eat a small number of meals and feed some fresh, high-quality dog food. Taking a person's antacid tablets may be effective (of course, with the doctor's consent after diagnosis).

About vitamin B deficiency: there are many kinds of B vitamins, all of which are needed for dogs. Feeding too much overprocessed food can lead to vitamin B1 deficiency, symptoms such as convulsions and strokes. Excessive food processing can destroy vitamin B6, leading to weight loss, anemia and convulsions. Vitamin B compound injection, yeast tablets and multiple vitamin B tablets can treat vitamin B deficiency.
