Last Updated: 2024/11/09, There are two common skin diseases in foxes, one is acariasis, the other is mycosis. Acariasis can be infected in all parts of the body, in addition to hair removal, the diseased part is grayish white, and there are a lot of dandruff. The diseased fox showed severe pain and itching, the diseased part bled due to gnawing and friction, opened into a thick scab, and the shape of the diseased part was irregular; the itching of fungal infection was slight, and most of the diseased part showed round ringworm spots with clear boundaries, and the scab was backward and bright red and moist. The surface is eroded and often with residual hair. For example, if the diseased materials are collected and treated, they will be examined by microscope.

The treatment of acariasis with avermectin (Chong Ke Xing) is the first choice, generally per kilogram of body weight according to 0.02 ml cervical subcutaneous injection, once every 7 days, even 3 times can be cured. However, in recent years, from the perspective of therapeutic effect, foxes tend to develop resistance to avermectin. Therefore, the dose can be slightly increased, such as 0.03 per kilogram of body weight, 0.04 ml, once every 5 days, the effect is more significant. Tongming produced by Pfizer in the United States is more effective than avermectin in the treatment of acariasis, and it is less toxic and can be cured by 1-2 times. When diseased foxes are found, they must be strictly isolated and treated. After cure, the contaminated cage should be thoroughly disinfected with flame, and the ground should be disinfected with quicklime. If strict and thorough disinfection is not carried out, repeated infection will occur.

Avermectin was not effective in the treatment of fungal infection. Oral griseofulvin has a good effect, and external drugs such as nystatin and clotrimazole are the first choice.
