More than 300 Kenyan farmers have benefited from a newly developed rice variety that grows shorter, ripens faster and can fight bad weather and diseases.

This rice variety is awarded the title of NaricIII, which is a upland rice variety. However, unlike other upland rice, such as SupericaI, II and Abironi, this new variety can mature in only 3 months after 120 days and 5 months, respectively.

In addition to the high maturity rate, the greatest relief for farmers is that this new variety of rice is resistant to pests. This factor has greatly reduced the rice loss caused by pests among farmers.
