Variety approval No.: national examination and approval Rice 2003030

Crop type: Rice

Variety name: Zhonghan 3

The first breeding unit: China Rice Research Institute

Variety source: CNA6187-3 systematic breeding

Characteristics: this variety is a long-grain japonica conventional upland rice variety with a growth period of 120-125 days, which is 2-7 days later than that of Brazilian upland rice Aiba 9. The plant height is 130 cm, the plant type is compact, the growth is luxuriant, the sword leaf is straight. The stems, leaves and husks are all naked, the early growth is exuberant, the leaves are dark green, and the yellow silk bright stalks are ripe in the later stage. The effective panicle per mu is 142700, the ear length is 23.78cm, the average total grain number per panicle is 129.56, the average seed setting rate is 71.87%, and the 1000-grain weight is 25.88g. Resistance: 0 grade for leaf blast, 0.5 grade for panicle blast and 3 grade for drought resistance. Main indicators of rice quality: head rice rate 47.8%, chalky grain rate 33%, chalkiness 9.9%, gel consistency 76mm, amylose content 19.9%.

Yield performance: participated in the national regional trials of upland rice varieties in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and South China in 2000, the average yield per mu was 248.33 kg, 5.23% higher than that of the control Aiba 9, ranking first among the tested varieties; in 2001, the average yield per mu was 305.75 kg, 11.83% higher than that of the control Aiba 9, reaching a very significant level, ranking first among the tested varieties. The production experiment in Guangxi, Zhejiang and Hainan in 2001 showed that the average yield per mu was 310-410 kg, which was 11.24-24.16% higher than that of the control Ai 9.

The main points of cultivation techniques are as follows: 1. Intensive cultivation. It is required that the land should be leveled and the drainage and irrigation ditches should be dug on the four sides and in the middle of the field to achieve drainage and energy irrigation. 2. Sowing. The direct seeding method is used to sow seeds with a row spacing of 33-40 cm, or hole sowing, with a row-hole spacing of (26-28) * (16-18) cm, about 5 seeds per hole and a depth of 3-5 cm. 3, fertilization. To apply sufficient base fertilizer, 20 piculs of organic fertilizer, 40 kilograms of phosphate fertilizer, 10 kilograms of potash fertilizer and 5 kilograms of urea were applied per mu; 8-10 kilograms / mu of urea was applied at 4 leaves of seedlings, and 10 kilograms / mu of urea was applied at tillering stage; 4. In case of drought at 1-2 days after sowing, tillering stage and booting stage, appropriate amount of water should be irrigated in time. 5, weeding. In mountainous and wasteland, glyphosate or Roundup herbicides should be sprayed 15 days before soil preparation to remove weeds; when sowing, special herbicides for upland rice can be properly used to control weeds; 6. Pest and rodent control. Focus on the control of mole cricket and other soil pests, and pay attention to the control of sheath blight, rice blast and rats in the middle and later stages.

Approval opinion of the National quality Review Committee: after examination, the variety conforms to the national rice variety approval standard and has been approved. This variety is a long-grain japonica conventional upland rice variety with a growth period of 120-125 days, strong drought resistance and resistance to rice blast. It is suitable for planting one-season upland rice in Guangxi, Zhejiang and Hainan provinces.
