South Korea's first cloned pig was born
CHAO Pharmaceutical of South Korea and Jin Zhenhui Professor Group of Agricultural College of Gyeongsang University jointly carried out the first pig cloning project in South Korea. Two cloned pigs were successfully born through the project. The cloned pig was born on July 14, 2002 by cloning somatic cells. The first successful pig clone in the world was born in March 2000 at the PPL Institute in the United States. The team now plans to develop mutated pigs by adjusting genes.
