Feed pigs with fish products
Australian scientists have found a way to reduce the fat content of pork: feed pigs with fish products.
They claim that pork fed to pigs with fish feed is rich in omega--3 fatty acids, which protect against heart disease. These acids break down triglycerides and reduce the amount of fat in the blood.
Advantages:
AlisonCoates, a researcher in southern Australia, says it is very beneficial for people to eat this kind of pork.
The study was conducted jointly by Barlett and the Pork Council of Australia.
The subjects were given 200g pork rich in omega-3 every week for two weeks. The result was a decrease in triglyceride and DHA fat.
"the result is an increase in the amount of beneficial fat in the cell membrane, which reduces the flow of harmful fat through the body, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease." Dr. Coate said.
Fish fragrance
Dr. Coates said the pork or other foods rich in omega--3 fatty acids did not have a fish flavor after research. "We used multiple evaluation criteria to evaluate that there was no sensory difference between feed containing fish products and feed without fish products.
Some pig pens in Australia have begun to use this feed, which is also useful for poultry farms.
But it is unlikely to be put into use in cattle and sheep farms because ruminants have different digestive systems and it is not appropriate to use this feed.
