Epidemiology: Clostridium botulinum is distributed in the intestines of natural and healthy animals, but does not cause disease. However, when it parasites rotten animal carcasses, plant products and fly maggots, it will produce virulent exotoxins under anaerobic conditions. Clostridium goose poisoning often occurs in the warm season, due to high temperature, feed or fish and shrimp corruption, the production of exotoxin. Geese can be poisoned if they eat these rotten foods, or they can be poisoned by maggots that are glued to the toxin.

Symptoms: the incubation period of the disease is 1-2 days, the goose suddenly occurs, the typical symptoms are soft neck, head and neck straight drooping, eyes closed, wings drooping to the floor, coma and death. Seriously sick geese with loose feathers and easy to fall off.

Prevention and treatment: it is forbidden to feed rotten materials, dead fish, rotten shrimp, maggots and so on. There is no specific cure for this disease. 2-3 grams of magnesium sulfate and water can be used to accelerate the excretion of toxins, while oral antibiotics are given to diseased geese to inhibit the re-production of toxins by intestinal bacteria.
