Propagation methods and cultivation Management of Glycyrrhiza uralensis
Propagation method: propagate with seeds, rhizomes and ramets.
1. It is suitable to select and prepare land with sandy soil and loose red loam, applying barnyard manure 2500kg, turning 40~50cm deeply in autumn, raking fine and leveling, making high ridge, ridge width 40~50cm, furrow width 30~35cm.
2. Seed reproduction because the cortex of licorice seeds is hard and thick, it is not easy to emerge seedlings. Before sowing, grind the seeds with the same amount of broken glass and seeds for half an hour, and the germination rate is about 85%; or mix and store the seeds with 3 times the amount of wet sand for one or two months, accelerate the seed germination; or soak the seeds in warm water of 60 ℃ for 4 hours before sowing, cover them with a wet cloth, drench them with clean water twice a day, and sow seeds when the seeds are cracked. From late March to early April, two shallow trenches of 1.5~2cm were opened on the ridges, and the seeds were evenly sowed in the ditches, covered with soil and watered, and seedlings could emerge half a month after sowing. Planting ridges is better than planting flat beds, which is convenient for drainage, ventilation and light, and has deep roots. If you sow seeds before winter, you don't have to sprout. Sowing rate 2.5kg per 667m2.
3. Rhizome propagation: licorice root should be dug in spring and autumn, and its coarse root should be selected as medicine. The thinner rhizome should be cut off to grow a small section of 15cm, each section with root buds and fibrous roots, two grooves about l0cm should be opened on the ridge, and the rhizome should be laid flat in the ditch according to the plant spacing 15cm, covered with soil and watered to keep the soil moist. Planting seedlings 75~100kg every 667m2.
4. Many new plants are often germinated around the mother plant of Glycyrrhiza uralensis, which can be dug up and transplanted in spring and autumn.
Cultivation and management: seed propagation, when the seedlings come out once, and the height of the seedlings is 5~6cm, the seedlings are fixed according to the plant distance l0~15cm. During the growing period, loosen the soil and weed at the right time, and water it when it is dry. In autumn every year, 2000~2500kg compost can be applied every 667m2, some phosphate fertilizer should be added, furrow should be opened along the ridge, and soil covering and watering should be made after application.

High-yield cultivation of licorice
Licorice, also known as sweet grass root, is a medicinal plant of Leguminosae, which is used in medicine with roots and strong stems, which can tonify the spleen and replenish qi, clear away heat and detoxification, moisturize the lungs and relieve cough, and reconcile various medicines. Licorice likes dry climate and is resistant to severe cold. It is suitable for planting in sandy soil with deep soil layer, good drainage, low groundwater level, rich calcium and neutral or slightly alkaline soil. Waterlogged land, land with high groundwater level and acid soil are not suitable for planting. Licorice is usually propagated with strong roots and stems. After harvesting licorice in autumn or spring, put the thick root into medicine and choose the small one.

Harvesting and processing of licorice (3)
Licorice propagated by seed in the 4th year and licorice propagated in rhizome in the third year can be harvested before Grain in Beard or after White Dew, but it is better to harvest after White Dew. After picking and digging back, take advantage of the fresh cut to remove the branches, bask in the sun until half-dry, bind them into small bundles according to their thickness, and dry them all. Quality specifications: cylindrical, thick and thin without Reed head, purplish red or grayish brown surface, rough skin, light pine body, yellow-white cross section, powdery, sweet taste, no impurities, moth, mildew. First-class goods, more than 60 cm long, with a diameter of 3 cm under the Reed.
