Sowing and Propagation techniques of Taxus mairei
Taxus mairei, also known as Taxus mairei, is a red bean plant of the Taxus family. Because of its erect stem, evergreen, dense branches, symmetrical leaves, extremely green, fruit like agate, red light burning, has a very strong ornamental value. It is most suitable to be planted in shady or semi-shaded places in the courtyard, and it is the best tree species for courtyard beautification. At the same time, it is the raw material for the production of paclitaxel, an anticancer substance, and has high medicinal value.
There are two ways of reproduction of Taxus mairei: sexual reproduction and asexual reproduction. Sowing reproduction (that is, sexual reproduction) is the main reproduction method of Taxus mairei. The main technical measures are briefly introduced as follows:
Collect seeds.
The seeds of Taxus mairei matured from October to November. At this time, the fruit is crimson red, and the seeds are Obovate or ovoid, reddish brown and glossy.
Get the seedbed ready.
The nursery land should be flat, capable of drainage and irrigation, deep soil layer, loose texture, anti-wind and shade, rich in humus, micro-acid (PH value 6.0 / 6. 5) or neutral soil. Level the ground and make a bed. After making the bed, the soil should be disinfected. It can be sprayed with 40% formalin and water 180 times, and sprayed with diluent 10m / m ~ 15kg. Then cover the seedling bed with plastic film for a week, then lift the film, and level off the seedling bed.
Seed treatment.
The seeds of Taxus chinensis var. mairei have a long dormancy period of more than one year. If not treated properly, some seeds will take 3 years to germinate one after another, and some even lose vitality during dormancy and no longer germinate.
There are three ways to deal with it: first, broadcast on demand. The collected seeds will be disinfected with formalin and immediately sowed into the seedbed to avoid the loss of vitality caused by the loss of water. However, the seedlings raised by this method appeared less in that year. Second, the seeds were stored in low temperature and wet sand to accelerate germination. The third is to bury the seeds in the soil for one year and then sow them the following year.
Sow seeds.
It is broadcast by stripes. The distance between the grooves is 13m / m / 15cm. Use stratified storage to promote germination or buried in the soil, after taking out the seeds, sift out the seeds with a sieve, and wash the seeds with clean water, then soak the seeds with 40% formalin 200 ℃ 260 times aqueous solution for 20 minutes, take out and seal for 1 hour, finally rinse with clean water and put them into a container with a temperature of 20 ℃. After the germ begins to sprout, it can be sown. Sowing depth is about 2 cm, sowing cover soil (the soil is better with sifted fine mycorrhizal soil), cover the grass, and water the seedling bed thoroughly with a fine hole spray can.
Administration and Management.
1. Erect a shade shed. Taxus chinensis var. mairei is a strong negative and slow-growing tree species, and it likes a warm and humid ecological environment. If the sun is not covered, the germinated seedlings are easy to die because of poor resistance, so it is necessary to do a good job of building a shed for sunshade before the buds are unearthed. The shading degree should be about 50% light transmittance.
2. Cover with plastic film. Cover all the soil of the seedbed with plastic film except the place where the seed has been sown. This treatment can not only keep heat and moisture, improve the germination rate of seeds, but also greatly reduce the breeding amount of weeds and reduce the management cost.
3. Mianmiao. When the seedlings grow to 3mi 5cm, the seedlings should be divided according to the principle of "getting rid of the weak and the strong, the inferior and the good", so that the seedlings are distributed evenly, sparse and dense moderately. In addition, we should also do a good job in drought and drainage, fertilization and disease elimination, loosening and pruning, and so on.

Propagation of Taxus mairei
Choose a suitable nursery to choose fertile, loose, neutral or slightly acidic soil with good drainage, preferably in woodland or semi-shaded fertile land. Apply enough base fertilizer, rake flat, and prepare the bed for planting. The seeds matured in October and were harvested in time and placed in the mixture of water and fine sand (water / sand ratio 2 ∶ 1). Rub the seeds on the washboard, remove the seed coat, and wear the hard meat seed coat. The dry land without stagnant water and digging pits were selected and stored in the pits mixed with wet river sand at the ratio of 1 ∶ 2. In March of the following year, take out the net seed and use 50 degree liquor and 40% liquor.

Characteristics and Seedling Management of one-year-old seedlings of Taxus mairei
The container specification of container seedling of Taxus mairei should be 8cm × 12cm. After sowing, the soil temperature is required to be in the range of 18-25 ℃, and the seeds can germinate after 25 days, and the germination rate is neat, the germination rate is high, and the temperature is lower than the lower limit, so it is difficult for seeds to germinate, and the germination rate is low and irregular. After seed germination, from early June to early October, it is required to shade with a light transmission net of about 50%. Seedlings have strict requirements on water and fertilizer, and more phosphate fertilizer is applied in the middle and later stages of growth, so as to promote the increase of ground diameter, root system and biomass.
