Some experts say that the yew is an endangered tree species preserved during the Quaternary ice age, and it is rare for the natural yew forest to be distributed in a wide area and a large number. It is understood that Zhushui is located at the southern foot of the Qinling Mountains, between the subtropical and warm temperate zones, with abundant rainfall and forest coverage of 78%. Rich in plant resources, it has been known as "natural medicine storehouse" since ancient times. A plant with a chest circumference of two points was found in Dongyuangou, Fenghuang Town.

It is understood that Zhushui is located at the southern foot of the Qinling Mountains, between the subtropical and warm temperate zones, with abundant rainfall and forest coverage of 78%. Rich in plant resources, it has been known as "natural medicine storehouse" since ancient times. In Dongyuangou, Fenghuang Town, a yew with a chest circumference of 2.18 meters, a crown covering half an acre and a tree age of more than 1900 years has been found. This is the oldest yew found in Northwest China so far.

The yew forest discovered this time is located in Huling Village, Xiaoling Town, and is distributed on the hillside above 1200 meters above sea level. At present, this piece of yew has germinated new buds, and the back of the young leaves are lined with yellow-green buds, shaped like grain seeds, visible to the naked eye.

According to the data, yew, also known as yew, red cypress pine, there are 11 species in the world, and five species are distributed in China. Because its biological characteristics require high ecological environment and poor natural regeneration ability, it is a precious plant on the verge of extinction, so it is listed as a first-class protected plant in China. Logging is also banned by the United Nations.

According to reports, the relevant government departments here have begun to study the protection and development of yew, and decided to set up a yew resource reserve.
