Family cultivation of African violets
Fertilizer should be stopped at low temperatures in winter and high temperatures in summer. Pay attention to watering, fertilization to avoid water, fertilizer sprinkled on the leaf surface, do not often spray water to the leaf surface, this is because the water droplets stay in the leaf hair for a long time, the leaf will produce ugly macula, or even rot. But in order to increase air humidity, you can spray water around the plant, if the air circulation, evaporation is faster, you can also spray a small amount of water to the leaves, the water should be close to room temperature, not too cold.
Change the pot once every spring, because the plant is not large, the root system is not widely distributed, the flowerpot should not be too large, according to the size of the plant, choose the corresponding flowerpot. The basin soil should be loose and fertile slightly acidic soil, which can be mixed with 3 parts of rotten leaf soil and 2 parts of sandy soil, or 1 part of rotten leaf soil, 1 part of peat soil and 1 part of sandy soil. After two years of cultivation, the growth of the plant weakens, and the new plant can be propagated and the old plant can be renewed.
Leaf cuttings are commonly used for the reproduction of African violets, which can be carried out throughout the year under the condition of 18 ℃ to 25 ℃. The method is to cut the sturdy leaves with stalks and insert the 1pm 2 to 1pm 3 of the petiole into the sandy soil to keep the medium moist without stagnant water and slightly higher air humidity. Put in a place where there is no direct sunlight, buds will grow at the base of the petiole in about a month, and so the buds will grow a little bigger, together with the old leaves on the pot, can become a new plant.
