White raccoon dog as one of the few color varieties in the rapid warming, in 2005 the price of male animals has exceeded 4000 yuan/, far more than other fur animals, even more than imported Finnish fox. There are many factors for speculation, but the main reason is the shortage of white raccoon dogs. Because the reproduction of white raccoon dog is dominant inheritance, there is objective existence of lethal gene in its own reproduction, so it must be mated with common raccoon dog, and only a few of the offspring obtained are white raccoon dog, thus limiting the development of white raccoon dog, so people try to solve this problem through artificial insemination technology. The artificial insemination technique of raccoon dog was developed later than fox, and the main problem encountered in the operation at present is the difficulty of sperm collection. The massage of raccoon dog can only be realized after a certain domestication, which takes time and effort to operate, and the success rate is not high. The application of electric stimulation of sperm collection technology can overcome these shortcomings and can be popularized in production.

1 Tools and medicines

(1)Fox raccoon dog special electric stimulation sperm collection instrument, by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences specialty research institute development; can also be used after the transformation of livestock electric stimulation sperm collection instrument.

(2)A collection cup.

(3)Anesthetics, currently on the market has been specifically used for fur animals anesthetics, can also be replaced by dog anesthetics, if you can not find the above drugs, can also be replaced by deer anesthetics.

2 Methods of operation

2.1 Preserve male raccoon dog, wipe its anus and penis around with a damp clean towel, the temperature of the towel should not be hot. Wash the towel with soap. Do not use disinfectant. Repeat rubbing around the penis and covering it with a towel for a while to stimulate urination.

2.2 Anesthesia. Use the anaesthetic special for fur animals according to its instructions, or refer to the use method of dogs; when using deer anaesthetic, use 0.3mL per raccoon, intramuscular injection.

2.3 Clean the probe of the sperm collection instrument (it can be disinfected with disinfectant), apply soap for lubrication, insert the probe into the anus of the raccoon for 5~8cm after the raccoon is completely anesthetized, adjust the voltage adjustment knob (coarse adjustment and fine adjustment) on the instrument panel to the minimum gear, and turn on the power supply. Gradually increase the voltage according to the raccoon dog's reaction, increase 1V each time, wait for the raccoon dog penis to fully erect, stop increasing the voltage when there is ejaculation action, and prepare to receive semen. If there is no ejaculation continue to increase the voltage until ejaculation. Generally, the voltage of 5~6V can make raccoon dog ejaculate. The raccoon dog that often collects sperm or mates can also ejaculate at 2~3V. The voltage required for the first collection of sperm or incomplete oestrus is relatively large. If it exceeds 15V, it should be stopped. To avoid excessive voltage damage to raccoon dog.

2.4 After semen collection, immediately inject antidote into raccoon dog, put it back into cage after it fully awakens, and pay attention to observation.

2.5 Clean and disinfect the corresponding appliances for next use.

Electro-stimulation is an effective method for semen collection, especially in reducing labor intensity, overcoming difficulties in domestication of breeding animals, etc. It is the first choice to successfully solve the difficulties in semen collection of white raccoon dog and other fur animals, and plays an important role in artificial insemination of white raccoon dog. At present, there is no adverse reaction of this method, but the current stimulation and anesthesia will inevitably affect the male animals. Whether it affects the service life and the extent of the impact need further experiments to confirm, and how to reduce the negative effects also needs to be discussed and summarized in future practice.
