Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Ploughing, weeding, loosening soil and preserving soil moisture: the newly planted jujube orchard made a 1m wide tree row after planting, and then widened year by year with the expansion of the tree crown. The pure jujube orchard with high density can generally be intercropped with some dwarf legumes or melons and vegetables three years before planting, and the jujube orchard with jujube grain intercropping can be used for long-term intercropping of crops. In this way, the scope of jujube soil management in the first three years is mainly in the range of tree rows, and the future soil management will be carried out in the whole garden. The first problem in soil management is to eradicate weeds because of the growth of weeds.

Ploughing, weeding, loosening soil and preserving soil moisture: the newly planted jujube orchard made a 1m wide tree row after planting, and then widened year by year with the expansion of the tree crown. The primary problem in soil management is to eradicate weeds, because the growth of weeds absorbs a large amount of water and nutrients from the soil. Therefore, too many weeds will directly affect the growth potential of jujube. Another important link of soil management is to loosen soil in time, reduce water evaporation, improve soil permeability and so on. According to the Shanxi Fruit Tree Research Institute, the soil water content and nitrate nitrogen content of the clear jujube orchard were higher than those of the wasteland jujube orchard, the root length increased by 16.5%, the weight increased by 56.8%, and the fruit setting rate also increased.

It was also reported that when weeds were overgrown in the summer days, ploughing the soil three times and pressing weeds into green manure had a very significant effect. The length of jujube hanging increased by 50% compared with the control, the number of jujube strands increased by 20%, and the yield of jujube fruit increased by 35%.
