Shizuishan: Ningjiao No. 1 Passed the Variety Approval of Autonomous Region

Last Updated: 2024/09/16, The dehydrated sweet pepper variety "Tianxi No.1" bred by Ren Tianxi, senior agronomist of Agricultural Technology Extension Center of Shizuishan City, passed the examination and approval of Crop Variety Identification Committee of Autonomous Region in early March and was officially named "Ningjiao No.1," indicating that this variety was approved for large-scale popularization and planting in the whole region. This is the first new dehydrated vegetable variety identified in the autonomous region, filling the gap that Ningxia dehydrated vegetables do not have independent intellectual property varieties. Dehydrated vegetables are one of the leading industries in agricultural development in Shizuishan City.

The dehydrated sweet pepper variety "Tianxi No. 1" selected by Ren Tianxi, a senior agronomist of Shizuishan Agricultural Technology extension Center, was approved by the crop Variety Identification Committee of the Autonomous region in early March and was officially named "Ningjiao No. 1", indicating that the variety was approved to be popularized and planted in a large area in the whole region. This is the first new variety of dehydrated vegetables identified in the autonomous region, filling the gap that Ningxia dehydrated vegetables do not have independent intellectual property rights.

Dehydrated vegetable is one of the leading industries of agricultural development in Shizuishan City. Sweet pepper is the main product in the processing of dehydrated vegetables. The sweet pepper planted by farmers in Shizuishan City is mainly eggplant Sweet Pepper No.1, due to planting for many years, variety virus disease, blight and other diseases occurred seriously, resulting in low yield or even no yield.

In 2003, Shizuishan Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry organized agricultural technicians to inspect Inner Mongolia. Ren Tianxi accidentally found a mutant of sweet pepper growing very strong, and brought it back with many results. In repeated experiments, agricultural technicians found that this variety has strong growth potential in the early stage, a large number of fruits, and has the advantages of high and stable yield, strong adaptability, fast fruit turning red, virus resistance and so on. Moreover, the dried red pepper products produced by this variety have been tested by the Agricultural products quality testing Center of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the Autonomous region, and the vitamin content is high, so it is suitable for dehydration processing.
