Last Updated: 2024/09/19, Bianza A1 is the first cotton hybrid cultivated by Plant Protection Institute of Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Henan Province. The variety has tall plant type, chicken claw leaf, plant height of 1.3 to 1.4 meters, 40 fruit branches per plant (including secondary fruit branches on vegetative branches), 40 bolls per plant, 5.1 grams per boll weight, 41% lint percentage and good early maturity. the growth period is 115-120 days, which is suitable for post-harvest transplanting of barley, wheat or rape in the Huang-Huai and Yangtze River cotton areas. The yield of lint per mu is 100kg to 160kg, and the highest yield per mu can reach 200kg.

Bianza A1 is the first cotton hybrid cultivated by Plant Protection Institute of Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Henan Province. The plant type of this variety is tall, chicken claw leaf, plant height is 1.3 to 1.4 meters, fruit branch per plant (including secondary fruit branch on vegetative branch) is about 40, boll weight per plant is 40, boll weight is 5.1 g, lint percentage is about 41%, and early maturity is good. The growth period is 115 to 120 days, which is suitable for transplanting barley, barley and rape in the cotton areas of Huang-Huai and Yangtze River basins. The yield of lint per mu is 100kg to 160kg, and the highest yield per mu can reach 200kg.

The flowering, boll setting and boll opening of standard hybrid A1 are relatively concentrated, more than 20 secondary fruit branches of more than 10 main stem fruit branches and vegetative branches can grow at the same time, and the bud period of conventional cotton is relatively short. it takes 28 days for conventional cotton to bloom from budding to flowering, while it takes 23 days for standard A1 to blossom, and only 18 days for short ones, which can bloom and bear more bolls than conventional cotton in the same time.

In the demonstration in recent years, the transplanting performance of standard hybrid A1 hybrid cotton wheat is outstanding. Wang Hongyun, a farmer in Wangzhuang, Luyi County, planted 3.1 mu of standard hybrid A1 in 2000 with an average yield of 121 kg of lint per mu. Dai Mingxian, a farmer in Anling Town, Huaiyang County, planted an average yield of 103 kg per mu of lint in 2001. In 2002, Sundukou Village, Zhangdian Township, Luyi County, more than 1000 mu of wheat was transplanted after transplanting. The average yield of lint per mu was 110kg. In 2003, transplanting after wheat or rape in Henan, Anhui, Shandong, Shaanxi, Hubei, Jiangxi and other places, the yield of standard hybrid A1 was 40%-50% higher than that of conventional summer cotton and about 25% higher than that of conventional cotton sown in spring or interplanted in wheat fields.

Standard A1 does not need pruning and branching, leave all the leaf branches, or remove the lower weak vegetative branches, leaving 2-3 strong vegetative branches per plant.

Standard A1 is highly resistant to Helicoverpa armigera, the second generation of Helicoverpa armigera generally does not need to be controlled, if the third and fourth generation of Helicoverpa armigera has more than 6 larvae, it should be controlled. Insect pests such as cotton aphid, red spider, beet armyworm and blind Toona sinensis should be controlled as appropriate.
