Prevention and treatment of fracture and dislocation in pigs
The fracture of the bone caused by the impact of external force is called fracture (also known as incomplete fracture), and the fracture is called fracture (also known as complete fracture). The joint head of the bone leaves the joint fossa and cannot be automatically restored, which is called dislocation. When the two opposite articular surfaces can not touch each other completely, it is called complete dislocation, and the partial contact between the two articular surfaces is called incomplete dislocation.
1. The cause of traumatic fracture is caused by a variety of mechanical violence, such as whipping, fighting, falling, jumping, etc., rickets, osteomalacia, osteomyelitis prone to fracture.
Dislocation often occurs due to overextension, flexion, abduction and internal transfer of the joint due to fall, jump, and mating crush injury. in addition, tumors occur in the joint and the end of the joint, and a large amount of inflammatory exudate in the joint may also cause dislocation. common dislocations include scapular joint, hip joint, knee joint, flying joint, tie joint and so on.
two。 Cripple occurs in the diseased pig when the symptom is fractured, and the affected part has obvious redness, swelling, heat and pain. At the place where the affected bone can be touched, the friction sound of "clattering bar" can be made when the broken bone moves. Rib fractures often cause local redness and swelling. There are blood stasis spots under the skin of the injury. if the broken bone penetrates the chest muscle, the blood entering the chest cavity can induce pleurisy. Excessive internal bleeding often causes sudden death.
Most of the dislocated limbs are of one limb, in addition to the dislocation of the hip joint, you can generally barely stand on three limbs, jump and walk. Dislocation of the hip joint is often in the dog sitting position, dragging the affected limb to crawl, and the direction of the limb axis below the dislocated joint changes. The protruded joint head or joint fossa can be touched by the mold and make a friction sound when shaking.
3. Prevention and control should mainly strengthen management, such as setting up seed racks or popularizing artificial insemination when mating, and strictly prevent jumping from cars during transportation. The door of the boar house should be fastened to prevent fighting. It is generally of little significance in treatment. It can be eliminated according to the condition of diseased pigs. When necessary treatment, generally perform the first reduction, and then fixed with splint, with any of the following external application.
(1) external application:
① six-rowed chrysanthemum, chrysanthemum notoginseng, Lu Ying, all take fresh roots, smash and apply to the affected area.
② fresh pine needle, fresh bone patching, add the right amount of alcohol, smash and apply to the affected area.
③ fresh hemp root, Saxifraga, add appropriate amount of liquor, smash and apply to the affected area.
(2) decoction prescription: Achyranthes bidentata, Angelica sinensis, peach kernel, chrysanthemum notoginseng each 10 grams, safflower, raw Puhuang 5 grams each (above is the dosage of 15-26 kg pigs).
