Oleander (Neriumindicum), alias willow leaf peach, oleander genus of oleander family.

I. Overview:

Appreciated by people since ancient times, its leaves are bamboo-like, pink, rich and gorgeous, pure white, as clean as snow, and named oleander because the flower looks like peach blossoms. It is designated as the national flower by the Algerian people.

Second, ecological characteristics:

Native to India, Iran and Afghanistan. Like a warm, humid and sunny environment. Cold-resistant, moisture-resistant, semi-overcast and air pollution resistant. The suitable temperature for growth is 20-30 ℃, and the winter temperature is not lower than-5 ℃, otherwise the leaves will suffer frost injury. The soil should be rich, loose and well-drained sandy loam.

3. Reproductive skills:

Cuttings and striping propagation are commonly used.

1. Cuttings can be carried out in both spring and summer. Cut 1-2-year-old branches, 15-20 cm long, soak the base of cuttings in water for 7-10 days, keep water clean, keep 20-30 ℃ at room temperature, and root 15-20 days after cuttings.

2. Strip pressing: the earth pressing method is used in spring and summer. After a slight cut on the base of oleander, the plant was cut off from the mother plant in the following spring and transplanted with soil.

4. Main points of cultivation:

Adaptable. Choose fertile and well-drained soil for rapid growth. Keep the soil moist. Before sprouting new branches in spring, it is necessary to trim the overgrown branches and weak branches, which can be cut off from the base, and the inner dense branches can be thinned to make the plant shape plump and beautiful. Fertilize once before sprouting and before flowering. After entering winter, it is necessary to reduce water supply, control plant growth and improve cold resistance. The potted plants are changed every 2 years.

5. Disease and pest control:

Leaf spot disease and tumor disease often occur. Spray with 600 times of 70% mancozeb wettable powder. Insect pests are harmful to shell insects and aphids, which are sprayed with 2000 times of 25% buprofezin EC.
