Distributed in alpine areas of 1500 meters in Luoxiao Mountains, evergreen shrubs or small trees, 5-7 meters high, twigs and pedicels purplish red, leaves oval, 6-8 cm long, 3-4 cm wide, lavender red. Terminal panicle, 6-8 cm long. Fruit long oval, false berry drupe, a seed. The flowering period is May, the fruiting period is August, and the branches are full of red fruit, which does not fall until October. This variety has strong adaptability, fast growth, high germination rate, resistance to pruning and low temperature of minus 20-22 ℃.

Ligustrum rubrum belongs to Ligustrum genus of Oleaceae. It is distributed in the 1500-meter-high alpine region of Luoxiao Mountain Range. It is an evergreen shrub or small tree, 5-7 meters high, with branches and pedicels purple red. Its leaves are elliptic, 6-8 cm long, 3-4 cm wide, and pale purple red. Terminal panicles, 6-8 cm long. Fruit long elliptic, pseudoberry drupelike, seed 1. Flowers in May, fruit in August, branches red fruit numerous, extended to October does not fall. This variety has strong adaptability, fast growth, high germination rate, pruning resistance, low temperature of minus 20-22℃, and can be cultivated in the open field in Beijing microclimate. It can resist sulfur dioxide, chlorine and hydrogen oxide. Normal growth occurs in alkaline soils with pH 8-9.

Propagation: 1. Seed propagation: After seed harvesting, after 5-7 days of post-ripening period, then wipe off seed coat, wash out seeds in clear water, dry slightly, mix with moist fine sand, sow in December, northern areas can be extended to March, April-May of the next year, transplant seedlings, plant in the field in the second year, and then leave the nursery after 2-3 years. 2. Cutting propagation: spring and summer, spring in March, summer in June-July, cutting must be lignified, 7-8 cm long, with 1-2 leaves, the lower part cut into a horse ear shape, cutting bed substrate with fine loess mixed with 1/3 of fine sand, fully sprinkled after planting, arch shed covered with film, and shade with a sunshade net.
