Last Updated: 2024/11/05, The trunks of bonsai trees are mostly ancient, old, sick and disabled to show their "vigorous character" after a long time of vicissitudes, while the images of some bonsai trees show the characteristics of being young, tender, smooth and slippery. The peeling technique of tree stump bonsai is precisely based on the conditions of the trunk itself and reconstructed by artificial art to make the trunk image meet the requirements of bonsai art modeling and achieve the purpose of enriching various texture levels of tree trunks. Now let's introduce three techniques of peeling. Spin and peel. Part of the trunk goes from bottom to bottom.

The trunks of bonsai trees are mostly ancient, old, sick and disabled to show their "vigorous character" after a long time of vicissitudes, while the images of some bonsai trees show the characteristics of being young, tender, smooth and slippery.

The part of the trunk is carved and peeled from the bottom up, so that the trunk forms a smooth Yin-Yang line or a spiral artistic image of flickering and disappearing, virtual and real, which not only increases the expressive force of the trunk, but also embodies the artistic conception that has experienced hardships. Its disadvantage is that the artificial modification mark is too strong.

The trees that are carved must grow strong. In order to prevent the branch from dying due to peeling, the relationship between the trunk and the branch should be considered and the connection of the vein position should be preserved. Pine and elm trees that secrete more sap should be peeled when they secrete less sap during the sprouting period.

During the peeling operation, you can use chalk to gently draw the parts to be stripped from the bottom to the top of the trunk. At the same time, we should also consider the aesthetic relationship between the front and back, left and right, up and down of the carved part on the trunk, so as to make sure that the engraved part can not only echo with the surrounding environment, but also have exposure, storage and storage to rotate the layout on the trunk. The position of the engraving part on the trunk circle should not be too wide, generally not more than 1 big 3 of its perimeter, and the peeling that is too wide and too long should be carried out in stages and in time, and another part of the peeling should be carried out after the wound of the peeling part is healed.

After the peeling site is determined, you can use a sharp knife to press the chalk stitch on the trunk and carve both sides of the bark first. Pay attention to the knife edge must be flat, do not damage the wood, in order to facilitate wound healing. When the whole dry spinning is finished, you can use a knife to pick up the bark, expose the woody parts, and then apply latex to seal the wound. After the peeling wound heals, it has a slight sense of bulge, which increases the artistic effect of the contrast between yin and yang in the trunk.

Skin peeling. Cut the bark vertically on the trunk, but not directly tear it off and discard it, but let the upper part of the bark curl slightly away from the xylem of the trunk, while the lower part of the bark gradually clings to the tree body, making the trunk highlight the image of detachment, lotus root and antiquity.

By using the method of peeling, it is necessary to coordinate the direction of the bark curl with the overall tree shape, or increase the momentum, or achieve balance, or break the tranquillity. The length, width and width of the bark should be in line with the overall performance trend of the tree. For peeling trees, it is better for trees with exuberant growth and thicker and softer skin. Peeling should be carried out from top to bottom. The opening of the upper bark should be uneven, full of natural fission characteristics of tearing, folding, pulling and pulling, so as to avoid the tendency of too strong artificial marks, and the edge of the bark should also be carved into a rough and irregular shape. After peeling off the upper bark with a carving knife, the bark should be curled out of the trunk into an arc (because the bark is difficult to bend behind), and then gradually torn down to the predetermined position. Note that the lower the peel, the lighter the force, and the closer the gap between the trunk and the bark is.

Peel at intervals. Rotary dry peeling and peeling have smooth continuity, while spaced peeling is combined by local peeling, and the peeled trunk image is intermittent and cracked, showing the ancient characteristics of natural shedding and cracking.

The interval stripping method should be in a point zone, and the trunk stripping part is required to have an irregular shape, and the size and length of the peeling between the part and the part should be different. Generally, the lower part of the trunk is large and gradually shrinks upward, and some parts of the bark can not be completely peeled off, but carved into the shape of dry and cracked bark, in order to highlight the texture of the trunk which has been eroded by wind and rain. For the carving and peeling of each trunk, attention should be paid not to too much, and too much should be carried out in segments and time-sharing. The engraving area should not be larger than 2x5 of the perimeter of the trunk, so as not to affect the coordination of the overall image ratio and the normal growth of trees. After engraving, seal glue should be applied to the cut in time.
