Skillful maintenance of flood and drought bonsai
Watering flood and drought bonsai basin is very shallow, we should pay special attention to replenish water in time. In order to prevent the basin soil from being washed away during watering, it is appropriate to use a fine-eye spray can to water it. When the climate is dry, sprayers can be used to spray on the basin, trees and stones to keep the moss growing well.
Fertilization in flood and drought bonsai has less soil and limited nutrients, so attention should be paid to fertilization to make trees grow healthily. Fertilizer is often sprayed on the soil surface with diluted organic fertilizer and water. The granular organic compound fertilizer can also be buried in the basin soil.
The trees in the flood and drought bonsai usually change soil once every 3 to 5 years, mostly in spring and autumn. When changing the soil, first remove the stones and accessories (remember the location), carefully pull out the trees with the soil, remove about 1/2 of the old soil with bamboo sticks, cut off the dead roots and part of the old roots, replace them with new soil, plant them in the pot according to the original position, and then place the accessories and cover them with moss.
Placement and protection should be placed in a ventilated and transparent place at ordinary times, to prevent exposure in summer, and move to a place with sufficient indoor light in winter, not to be frozen. In the plant growing season, it should be careful not to put it indoors for many days in a row, so as not to affect its growth.
The pest control method of flood and drought bonsai is the same as that of general tree bonsai.
