The author was treated with turpentine, camphor oil, 2% trichlorfon and other drugs a few years ago, although it has some effects, but it needs to be treated many times before it can be cured, and it has certain side effects. In recent years, by consulting folk veterinarians and practicing repeatedly, the author has used compound sulfur to treat rabbit scabies with good results and few side effects.

Clinical-there are tinea corporis and ringworm

Ringworm generally starts from the nose of the rabbit and gradually spreads to the rim of the eye to the whole body. The affected rabbit is itchy and restless, and the skin is inflamed, swollen and depilated due to scratching. Yellow or blood-like exudates flow from the wound, gradually forming bran-like crusts.

Tinea starts from the root of the ear and then spreads to the whole ear, causing redness and swelling on the inside of the ear, itching and inflammation of the external ear canal, and drowned secretions form a rosin-like skin, such as a roll of paper embedded in the ear canal. In severe cases, the ear canal is completely blocked and the ear becomes heavy and drooping. if exudates and debris are removed, the skin is moist, red, and bleeding. Palpation is painful. If the lesion spreads to the brain, it can cause otitis media, deafness or seizures. Diseased rabbits lose appetite, gradually lose weight and weakness, and even cause death.

Treatment-sulfur-based traditional Chinese medicine formula

Sulfur rub formula: sulfur 20g, realgar 20g, Cnidium seed 40g, cresol soap solution 4mL, liquid paraffin 1000mL.

After taking sulfur, andrographolide and Cnidium mongolica, add appropriate amount of liquid paraffin to the bowl, grind to suspension, then add liquid paraffin 1000mL, stir well and then use.

Usage: before using the medicine, you should first cut off the rabbit hair around the affected area, then soak the skin with warm soap water, and then apply the medicine. Shake the liquid slowly before applying the medicine, and then use a large brush to dip the solution to apply scabies, which can enhance the efficacy and reduce the waste of drugs.

Case-the trial effect is good

More than 60 rabbits were raised by Luo in Xicheng Village, Lincheng Town, Shanghang County, Fujian Province. On April 12, 2006, 21 rabbits were sick in varying degrees. At the beginning, the rabbits itched and shook their heads violently. Some sick rabbits scratched their heads or ears and became restless. A few days later, they showed typical symptoms. After using compound sulfur lotion for 2 times (repeated medication at an interval of 7 days), the sick rabbits recovered.

Discussion-pay equal attention to prevention and treatment

1. Use the drug again 7-10 days after the first administration, so that it can be cured, which may be related to the developmental cycle of mites, which needs to be discussed.

2. To prevent this disease, the rabbit house should be ventilated, transparent, spacious and dry. The rabbit cage should be cleaned regularly and disinfected regularly.

3. At ordinary times, the ears and feet of rabbits should be carefully observed for the phenomenon of depilation and itching. It is found that the diseased rabbits are isolated immediately, and the cage and all appliances are not in contact with the diseased rabbits.

4. After medication, feeding and management should be strengthened to maintain environmental hygiene and avoid recurrent disease.
