At present, breeders generally adopt the methods of keeping dogs in captivity and tying up, and the amount of activity of dogs is relatively reduced. if they encounter adverse factors such as abrupt weather and humid environment, dogs are easy to suffer from rheumatism. The diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic arthralgia in dogs are recorded as follows:

(a) morbidity and symptoms A 6-month-old dog, weighing 7.8 kg, was raised in the enclosure and suddenly fell ill. It was rainy and humid for days. The sick dog limped on its left forelimb, could not land on the ground, was difficult to move, often could not afford to lie on the ground, and leaped forward with three feet when forced to drive. Palpation of the diseased dog's left forelimb showed pain, sensitivity, barking and struggle, sensitive shoulder muscles, slightly swollen shoulder and elbow joints, and a sense of warmth. The body temperature was between 38 ℃ and 39.3 min for several consecutive days, and the physiological indexes such as respiration and pulse were normal. Diet is also normal, feces and urine are not abnormal. The effect of anti-inflammatory injection was not good in the first 2 days.

(2) the diagnosis carefully analyzed the above symptoms, combined with further examination, no trauma, fracture, dislocation and other symptoms were found, and the initial diagnosis was rheumatic arthralgia in dogs.

(3) the treatment measures first give dogs analgesia and anti-inflammation, using 10 ml of 0.5% procaine hydrochloride solution and adding 500000 units of penicillin to the affected limb for subcutaneous injection, once a day for 2 days. Another 0.5 ml of Oviductus Ranae essence injection was injected intramuscularly in the affected limb once a day for 2 days. This drug is toxic to a certain extent and must be used strictly according to the prescribed dose. Then dispel wind and dehumidification to the sick dog. 20 ml of compound sodium salicylate injection and 1 ml of dexamethasone were injected intravenously into the forelimbs, once a day for 3 days. At the same time, take analgin 2 tablets each time, once a day for 3 days. In addition, we should strengthen the care of sick dogs. During the treatment, the sick dog was put on the playground for 30 minutes every morning and evening. Keep the kennel dry, change the cushion frequently, hang the lamp to replenish the light and heat. Feed digestible foods rich in protein and add a variety of vitamins.

Five days later, the sick dog's forelimbs began to walk on the ground and gradually recovered. As rheumatism is easy to relapse, sick dogs should be given anti-rheumatic drugs regularly in addition to strengthening exercise after rehabilitation.
