Huaihe pig breeds in this province can be divided into three types: Huaibei pig, mountain pig and Zao pig. Its main features: black and dense coat, shallow but few wrinkles on the forehead, long and straight mouthpiece, compact figure and strong limbs. The sexual maturity is early, and the sows give birth to more litters, with an average of 13 litters in 3-9 births. The average daily gain of fattening pigs is about 475 grams, and the feed reward is 4.57. The carcass waist is thinner, the skin is thicker, and the lean meat rate is as high as 45%.

Huai Pig is mainly distributed in the Huaibei Plain, Ningxia, Town, Yang Hilly and mountainous areas and coastal areas in the province. In the late 1970s, due to the extensive promotion of Xinhuai pigs in Huaibei area, most of the local Huaihe pigs were replaced by Xinhuai pigs and their hybrids. By 1987, the Huaihe pig center mainly concentrated in Ganyu, Yizheng, Gaoyou, Liyang, Gaochun, Dongtai, Dafeng and other counties, and the number of sows ranked second among the local breeds in the province.
