The "high fever syndrome", which first broke out in the south in the summer of 2006, has not subsided. This is what we are most concerned about at present, and some readers have called our editorial department to inquire about the research progress of the disease! At the Annual meeting of Pig Industry of Beijing Animal Husbandry Association, Academician Chen Huanchun of Huazhong Agricultural University and Professor Yang Hanchun of China Agricultural University were invited to express their personal views on the current epidemic of "high fever syndrome".

1 epidemic situation

First of all, geographically, it is from south to north, from east to west, and finally sweeping the whole country. Pigs of all ages are susceptible, farmers and small professional households are easy to occur, and large and medium-sized pig farms also occur.

2 clinical symptoms

The body temperature of diseased pigs is about 40-42 degrees, with clear nose to pus, loss of appetite, vomiting, shortness of breath, redness all over the body, dry and hard feces, and neurological symptoms before death.

3The change of dissection.

Acute septicemia, poor blood coagulation, subcutaneous peptone exudate, pericardial effusion, splenomegaly, fragile, kidney enlargement, bladder bleeding, laryngeal hemorrhage, pulmonary hemorrhage, pleural effusion, gastric mucosal exfoliation and large area hemorrhage, intestinal mucosal exfoliation and bleeding.

4etiological analysis

There is no final conclusion on the cause of the disease, but according to laboratory research, the two experts have their own opinions. First of all, after laboratory tests, Academician Chen and other scientific research team isolated Escherichia coli from the diseased tissues of diseased pigs. After drug sensitivity tests, it was found that this kind of Escherichia coli was resistant to most drugs. After animal sensitivity tests, the isolated Escherichia coli showed symptoms similar to those of clinically diseased pigs, but either the disease was caused by E. coli. Further experiments are needed to prove it. In addition, Professor Yang's experiments show that there may be two situations: one is a variant of blue-ear disease, and the other is an unknown virus, but is more inclined to the latter. Many legends about the disease (such as influenza, streptococcus, etc.) are not valid, teacher Yang made an exclusion explanation one by one. However, what this unknown virus is is not known, and further research is needed. The views of these two experts may give us some inspiration, hoping that through the unremitting efforts of the experts, a conclusion will be reached in the near future.

5 suggestions for prevention and control

Two experts gave suggestions on prevention and control. First of all, routine disinfection should be done well. Restrict the movement of people, and dead pigs should be buried or burned. Secondly, do not use antipyretic drugs in the early stage of the disease, you can add some electrolytic multi-dimensional in the drinking water, and then take symptomatic treatment after 5-7 days. Self-tissue inactivated vaccine can be prepared under the guidance of experts. The situation of each pig farm is different, so the treatment should be based on the specific situation. The majority of farmers should strengthen management and strengthen their confidence that we will be able to overcome this disease!
