Cold weather in winter, piglets after birth, if not managed properly, it is easy to cause death. So, how to improve the survival rate of piglets in winter?

Piglets

First, eat colostrum early: early colostrum can make piglets get immunity as early as possible, get rich nutrition, produce body heat as soon as possible, and increase cold resistance and disease resistance. At the same time, weak piglets should be fixed on the anterior and middle nipples of sows to make up for congenital deficiencies.

Second, cold protection and heat preservation: piglets have thin fur, less subcutaneous fat, poor heat preservation ability, piglets just born, wet skin, more heat dissipation, it is best to set up an infrared incubator in the production circle, the ground is covered with dry, warm, soft mat grass, and often replaced.

Third, early supplement concentrate: piglets began to induce feed after 6-7 days of birth, and high-quality full-price mixture should be gradually replenished 10 days later. The feed fineness of suckling piglets should be 1.2 to 1.8 mm in diameter.

4. timely iron supplement: generally, piglets about 10 days old will suffer from anaemia due to iron deficiency. Therefore, iron preparations should be supplemented within 2 days after birth to meet the normal growth needs of piglets.

Fifth, supplement drinking water: 3-5 days after birth, should provide the right amount of warm water, and add a small amount of salt and wheat bran.

Sixth, prevention of white dysentery of piglets: the peak period of piglets is one week after birth and around 20 days of age. It is necessary to keep the piglets in the pen hygienic and not allow piglets to drink dirty water; scientifically feed piglets with full-price feed and, if necessary, add multivitamin additives, growth stimulants and bacteriostatic drugs.

Seventh, do a good job of preventive injection: swine fever, swine lung disease, swine erysipelas and piglet typhoid are usually injected at the age of one month.

Smooth weaning: most piglets were weaned at the age of 30 to 35 days, staggered with preventive injection and castration to reduce the stimulation of stress factors.
