Turn over the bonsai and change the soil
The turning of potted trees can be decided according to the following aspects:
(1) Generally, small bonsai shall be turned over once every 1~2 years, medium bonsai shall be turned over once every 2~3 years, and large bonsai shall be turned over once every 3~5 years. If it is an old tree stump, it can be turned over once every few years.
(2) For tree species that grow vigorously and like fertilizer, the number of pot turning times should be more and the interval period should be shorter; for tree species that grow slowly and need less fertilizer, the number of pot turning times can be less and the interval period can be longer. Old pine and cypress piles should not be turned over more pots.
(3) The tree species with luxuriant branches and leaves and developed roots should be turned over frequently. Turning pots can be determined by the growth of roots. When the pot soil is not dry or wet, turn the pots upside down and pat the bottom of the pots with your hands to pour out all the trees with soil and roots. Check the hardening of soil blocks and the distribution of root systems. If the soil blocks are hardened and the root systems are densely distributed on the bottom of soil blocks, it means that the pots must be turned over.
The time of pot turning is better to choose the dormancy period of forest, mostly in early spring or late autumn. If more original soil is retained, it can be turned over at any time, regardless of seasonal restrictions. If most or all of the old soil needs to be replaced, the appropriate time for turning the pot should be strictly selected.

Bonsai taboo pruning
Bonsai trees, in order to make the tree beautiful, some branches that grow improperly, that is, the so-called taboo branches, are pruned to make them have a clear hierarchy and achieve one scene at a time. (1) whorled branches. Whorled branches mean that they grow in all directions at the same point in the trunk, such as the shape of a wheel. For the treatment of whorled branches, according to the need for the shape of the tree, keep 1 branch, up to 2 branches, and cut off the rest of the branches. (2) opposite branches. The opposite branch grows on both sides of a part of the trunk, such as a latch inserted into the trunk, and the treatment of the branch is sufficient.

The tendency that should be paid attention to in bonsai creation
In the process of bonsai art creation, the author often tends to be biased due to the influence of values, methodology and psychology, which is mainly shown in the following aspects: 1. Attach importance to green rather than branches. Evergreen varieties can add greenness to the room in the cold winter and are loved by the general public. on the contrary, bonsai works with fallen leaves, with the change of seasons, can enjoy different scenery, both leaves and branches. 2. Important and light. Although the bonsai industry in China has made some regulations on the height of the bonsai participating in the exhibition and the height of the pot, it is 120 higher than the height of the basin.
