Porcine influenza is an acute and highly contagious disease of pigs, which is characterized by sudden onset and rapid spread of the whole herd. The main symptom is upper respiratory tract infection, which usually occurs in winter and spring and sudden climate change. The disease is also often secondary to Haemophilus parasuis.

Morbidity

Yang raised more than 40 pigs in Baimaqiao Township, Xiangning County, Shanxi Province, including 18 fattening pigs, 11 shelf pigs, and the rest were sub-pigs. Because the livestock owner adopts the method of hogwash breeding, the breeding is not perfect, and the level of feeding management is relatively poor. In mid-July this year, pigs had a sudden onset of illness, loss of appetite or abstinence, fever, individual sick pigs with difficulty in breathing, abdominal breathing, and some claudication or weakness in their joints. When the owner found one dead, he called us in time for medical treatment.

Clinical symptoms and pathological changes

The body temperature of diseased pigs increased to 40 ℃ ~ 41.5 ℃, depressed spirit, loss of appetite or lack of food, muscle pain, reluctance to stand, viscous fluid outflow from eyes and nose, conjunctival congestion, dyspnea, wheezing, coughing, abdominal breathing, dog sitting posture, asthma sound of diseased pigs could be heard at night, joint pain of individual diseased pigs, especially in pigs with good fat condition.

Autopsy showed that the larynx, trachea and bronchi were filled with mucus containing bubbles, mucous membrane hyperemia, swelling, sometimes mixed with blood, pulmonary interstitial enlargement, lymph node enlargement, congestion, splenomegaly, catarrhal hemorrhagic inflammation in gastrointestinal mucosa, accumulation of cellulosic fluid in chest, abdominal cavity and pericardium.

Diagnosis.

According to the morbidity, clinical symptoms and pathological changes, the pig herd can be preliminarily diagnosed as Haemophilus parasuis secondary to influenza.

Prevention and cure measures

1. Strengthen feeding and management, improve the nutritional requirements of pigs, clean the environment regularly, and isolate and treat sick pigs in time.

two。 Qingkailing injection + lincomycin hydrochloride injection + strong amoxicillin, 0.2 ml-0.5 ml per kg body weight, mixed intramuscular injection, once a day for 3 days.

3. Mix antiviral Ⅰ powder (400kg material / bag) and doxycycline 300ppm into the feed and mix evenly. Continuous mixing for 10 days; at the same time, adding electrolytic multi-dimension to drinking water. After taking the above treatment measures, the condition was quickly brought under control, and the whole group returned to health after 3 days.

Summary

The incidence of this pig herd is due to climate change, the livestock owner's farm is simple, and the level of feeding and management is low, which leads to influenza in pigs. At the same time, due to the longer time of the disease, the diseased pigs are secondary to Haemophilus parasarum infection. The disease should strengthen feeding and management, regular disinfection, early detection and treatment of affected pigs, and medication according to the course of treatment.
