Last Updated: 2024/11/06, Pigs are afraid of heat, in hot summer, if the method of preventing heat and cooling is not appropriate, pigs will get heatstroke and die in serious cases, causing unnecessary losses. The methods of preventing heat and cooling are as follows: 1. Suitable temperature: pigs have different requirements for growth and development because of their different body weight. For pigs weighing about 20 kg, the suitable temperature for the environment is 24 ℃, 23 ℃ for 50 kg, and 20 ℃ for 100kg. In general, the suitable temperature for pig growth is 15-28 ℃, and the best temperature is 22 ℃. If the temperature reaches 35 ℃, the cooling work can not keep up with the 45 kg body weight.

Pigs are afraid of heat, in hot summer, if the method of preventing heat and cooling is not appropriate, pigs will get heatstroke and die in serious cases, causing unnecessary losses. The methods of preventing heat and cooling are as follows:

1. Suitable temperature: pigs have different requirements for growth and development due to their different body weight. For pigs weighing about 20kg, the optimum temperature is 24 ℃, 23 ℃ for 50kg, and 20 ℃ for 100kg. In general, the suitable temperature for pig growth is 15-28 ℃, and the best temperature is 22 ℃. If the temperature reaches 35 ℃, the cooling work can not keep up, pigs weighing more than 45 kg will lose weight, and a further rise in temperature will be life-threatening. Pigs have strong adaptability to humidity, but it is harmful to get wet. The relative humidity is 45% and 75%, and the best humidity is 50%, 55%.

2. Water supply: clean and sanitary drinking water. If the temperature is high in summer, the pig will drink enough water, and the body temperature will not rise under the regulation of water; the pig can remove the waste heat from the body by breathing and urinating. The amount of water consumed by pigs in summer is 23% of their weight, and adding 0.5% of salt water can effectively supplement the shortage of salt.

3. Shading: build a shade shed or plant trees and vines to block the direct sun in the south of the piggery in summer. Planting forage grass around the pig house can greatly reduce the reflected heat and reduce the pig house temperature by 4-6 ℃. Laying 3-5 cm thick fine sand in the pig house to let the pig sand bath can not only cool down but also kill the external parasites.

4. Diet: reduce energy feed and increase green juicy feed in summer. Feed 1-1.5 kg of green material per day; feed fresh, sanitary and mildew-free materials, feed more concentrate feed when the temperature is cool in the morning and evening, and feed green material or melon peel at noon.

5. Ventilation: open doors and windows or other vents to keep the air fresh and suitable for temperature and humidity.

6. take a bath: rinse the floor and walls with cold water or wash the pig body with lukewarm water, which can not only dissipate heat and cool down, but also clean and hygienic. You can also dig a shallow hole in the corner of the pigsty and let the pig soak in clean water for 10-20 minutes.

7. Others: give pigs 250-500 grams of vinegar or sauerkraut juice; feed 20-50 grams of white lentil juice or mung bean soup to drink, mash with 2 kilograms of fresh watermelon peel and 100 grams of white sugar, once every other day, to clear away heat and heat; ventilated and cooled down by ceiling fans or ventilators in the house.
