Cotton
The cotton genus of Malvaceae is the only crop that produces fiber from seeds. Cotton fiber is the main raw material of textile industry; cottonseed contains oil and protein, which is the raw material of food industry; cotton short wool is an important material of chemical industry and national defense industry.
Cotton is a large plant crop with deep roots, luxuriant leaves, many branches and long flowering period, which likes temperature and light, and is not resistant to shade; cotton has long growth period, large branches and leaves, large transpiration system, more water demand, developed root system, strong water absorption and drought tolerance; cotton requires deep soil, loose soil, suitable soil moisture and low groundwater level. Cotton has mild saline-alkali tolerance and has wide adaptability to soil acidity and alkalinity, but it is suitable for neutral to slightly alkaline.
During the growth period, cotton needs not only a large amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and calcium, sulfur, magnesium, sodium, iron and other elements, but also boron, manganese, zinc, copper, molybdenum and other trace elements. Before the full flowering stage, the vegetative growth was dominant and the nitrogen uptake was larger; after the full flowering stage, the nitrogen and potassium uptake decreased relatively, while the phosphorus uptake increased relatively.
Cotton is mainly used as raw material for textile industry. The value of textile use depends on the quality of the fiber. Length is an important indicator of fiber quality; the longer the fiber is, the higher the spinning count is. The fiber needs to have good strength and fineness at the same time.

Surprise fertilization of cotton to promote recovery
Yang Xiushen, a researcher at the Institute of Economic crops of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said: since July, our province has been hit by torrential rains, resulting in widespread flooding of farmland and serious harm to cotton. At present, it is critical to reduce waterlogging and fertilize and promote recovery. At the same time, it is necessary to remove weeds and loosen soil roots in time, and do a good job of replanting and replanting because of the appropriate field conditions. In order to remove the stagnant water in the field, we should take all necessary and possible means to remove the stagnant water in the field quickly, reduce the effect of waterlogging on the growth and development of cotton and reduce the mortality of cotton seedlings. For low-lying areas, especially for times

When the Meiyu season comes, cotton should be prevented and treated as soon as possible.
At present, the cotton seedling situation has entered the budding stage, but also entered the annual plum rain season. According to meteorological data, from May 30 to 31, some major cotton-producing counties, cities and districts in Wuhan, Xiaogan, Suizhou, and Ezhou received more than 100 mm of rainfall, causing torrential rain in some cotton fields, and cotton seedlings in depressed areas of some cotton fields were flooded. While cotton seedlings suffer from waterlogging, diseases and grass damage follow one after another. The "three evils" of cotton hit cotton farmers at the same time. According to the survey, there are now some cotton fields per
