Rust of spruce

Published: 2024-11-09 Author: mysheen
Last Updated: 2024/11/09, Spruce rust is only distributed in Tianshan area. The incidence of the disease is high, but there are few diseased cones. The susceptible cones no longer grow and die quickly. Symptoms: the disease harms the scales of male and female cones. The susceptible female cone is thin and small, curved, the scales open, the scales become lanceolate, and the cones turn yellow and no longer grow. A pile of teliospores with small yellow scales and orange-red projections. The pathogen is Chrysomyxadeformans (Diet.) Jacz.

Spruce rust is only distributed in Tianshan area.

Pathogen: the pathogen is Chrysomyxadeformans (Diet.) Jacz., which belongs to basidiomycetes subphylum, Alternaria, Puccinia and Puccinia.

The regularity of the disease: the pathogen only has the stage of teliospore. At the beginning of summer, spores from overwintering diseased buds invade female or male cones, producing yellow spots and teliospores. In cloudy and rainy weather, teliospores can germinate and produce basidiospores, which spread to the newly produced buds of spruce by airflow, that is, invading the buds to survive the winter.
