Canine distemper can occur all the year round and is prevalent in winter and spring. In October 2004, seven cases of canine distemper were diagnosed in the veterinary station. According to the clinical experience, comprehensive prevention and treatment measures were taken. The symptoms and diagnosis and treatment process are reported as follows:

1. Clinical symptoms

(1) Prophase: the body temperature was more than 40 ℃ and lasted for 2 days. The sick dogs seemed to get better and eat slightly, close to the normal temperature, and then the body temperature increased for a second time, lasting for several weeks, when the respiratory tract and digestive tract showed catarrhal inflammation. This period is usually 1-2 weeks.

(2) in the middle stage: with the rise of the second body temperature, showing missed fever, the condition further worsened, the cold trembled, the spirit was good and sometimes bad, the nasal and eye secretions increased to purulent, oral erosion, cough and tracheitis, similar to lung disease symptoms, often vomiting diarrhea, loss of appetite or abolition, the body gradually emaciated, generally lasted for more than a month.

(3) late stage: neurological symptoms appeared, including cramping, myalgia, paroxysmal muscle spasm, ataxia, circular movement, epileptic convulsion and coma, and generally died in 1-2 weeks. In some sick dogs, papules and herpes appeared in the lower abdomen or ventral medial skin in the middle and later stages.

two。 Integrated prevention and cure

(1) Immunotherapy: healthy dogs were injected with Wulian serum. High-dose high-immunity serum of canine distemper was injected before and during the middle stage of canine distemper. Small dogs 5 milliliters a day. Medium and large dogs were given 10-15 ml for 3-5 days.

(2) symptomatic treatment: medium and large dogs were injected with ampicillin sodium (0.5g), dexamethasone (2mg), analgin (5ml), vomiting (2ml), canine distemper (2ml) and vitamin C (10ml).

(3) fluid replacement therapy: rehydration should be carried out for dogs with severe dehydration.

(4) 5% 10% glucose and 0.9% normal saline are used for fluid replacement, the ratio is 1 ∶ 1, small dogs 200 × 250 ml, medium and large dogs 500 ml 1000 ml, add 10% potassium chloride 5% 10 ml into 500ml liquid infusion, when the body acidosis, add 5% sodium bicarbonate 30 ml 60 ml.

3. Experience

With the above comprehensive prevention and control measures, in the pre-and mid-term treatment, the cure rate reached 86%, and received a good prevention and treatment effect.
