Guangdong Province is located in the tropics and subtropics, and is rich in water and heat resources. in Guangzhou, the annual average temperature is more than 23 ℃, and the coldest January average temperature is still about 13 ℃. This natural advantage is very beneficial to catch pond fish "raising in winter".

Practice in various places has proved that "winter culture" of pond fish has many advantages: first, the cold water temperature is low, the organic matter and fertilizer in the fish pond decompose slowly, the pond water is fresh and oxygen is sufficient, which is conducive to the rapid growth of pond fish; second, because of the cold weather, the bacteria and parasites in the pond are not easy to reproduce and grow, the disease of pond fish is less, and the survival rate is high. Third, farmers can make full use of winter leisure land to plant vegetables and green space, cut grass and feed fish, and can also collect sugarcane tails after harvest and chaff, bran, grains, and meal after processing of agricultural and sideline products to feed fish, and fine feed is easy to solve; fourth, to do a good job in winter breeding, it is helpful to adjust the off-season of pond fish from March to May next year, make it even on the market, and ensure an increase in production and income.

So, how to raise pond fish in winter? first of all, it is necessary to adjust the stocking proportion of bighead carp and silver carp. These two kinds of fish are filter-feeding fish in the upper layer, and if they are released in the same amount at the same time, they will indirectly compete for food with each other and affect their growth. Bighead carp mainly eat zooplankton and can only reproduce when the water temperature rises above 22 ℃. Silver carp mainly eat phytoplankton and can grow normally when the water temperature drops to less than 14 ℃. Therefore, we should make use of their seasonal differences to advocate raising silver carp in winter and bighead carp in summer. In the current overwintering stage, phytoplankton is particularly abundant in the village side ponds, gate ponds and fat ponds on the outskirts of cities and towns. 90-120 silver carp and 20 bighead carps per mu should be stocked. After the water temperature rises in May of the following year, the original stocking habit of bighead carp will be restored and the stocking amount of bighead carp will be increased. In this way, the yield of silver carp and crucian carp can be increased by 150-200 kg per mu. Secondly, mackerel, blunt snout bream and other fish are the main body of pond fish during "winter culture", which are characterized by fast growth, high survival rate and great production potential, so they must be cultivated well. The specific methods are as follows: first, concentrate the scattered mackerel and raise them according to three specifications, such as more than 1 kg, 0.75 kg and 0.5 kg, with about 150-200 fish per mu. More than 1 kg of mackerel is in the fattening stage, mainly putting pellet feed, malt, corn kernels and other concentrate, every 100 kg of anchovy, 5-7 kg per day. 0.75-0.5 kg of mackerel should be fed mainly with green fodder, and fed with a combination of green and fine fodder. 1-3 kg of concentrate and 20-40 kg of green feed should be fed per 100 kg of mackerel every day. Regular, quantitative, qualitative and positioning feeding must be carried out to ensure that the mackerel is well-fed, fast-growing, easy-to-grow, high-yield and high-yield. The mackerel excretes feces and leftover bait, providing feed for other pond fish, so other fish don't have to throw it separately.
