Boldly explore the new technology of transplanting naked cotton seedlings
Xinchang Town of Shishou City is located on the north bank of the Yangtze River, bordering on Jiangling County. It is the largest town of early melon in Hubei Province and the birthplace of seedling cultivation of early pepper in Hunan and Hubei Province. It was once the town with the largest cultivation area, high benefit and good influence of melon pepper cotton intercropping in Hubei Province. The cotton planting area is about 24000 mu all the year round on the land of melon drunkenness and pepper reflecting spring color.
In recent years, under the promotion and guidance of agricultural technology service departments, some cotton farmers are willing to accept new technologies and actively explore new ways of cotton seedling cultivation. On the basis of substrate seedling cultivation and water floating seedling cultivation in the previous two years, Jingzhou Field Seed Industry Co., Ltd. has gradually expanded the chemical seed dressing and sowing this year,"seedling with soil, transplanting without soil". The field cultivation area of the whole town is 1000 mu, which is greatly increased compared with the area of 100 mu in the previous year. This technology is applied to 318 farmers, and Jiang Tongde and Dai Shengchang, Group 3 of Gaojiacao Village, science and technology demonstration households, respectively implement naked seedling transplanting area of 50 mu. After transplanting, the survival rate is 98.8%, and the growth is good. The cotton growth investigation on July 15, August 15 and September 15 shows that the growth condition is better than the average level of transplanting seedlings with soil in the nutrition pot of the whole town, saving cost and increasing efficiency. This technology will be popularized in a large area of the whole town next year.

Dafeng 18 is a new mid-maturing conventional cotton variety selected by Dafeng original Cotton Farm, which was approved by Jiangsu Province in 2007. The variety has a total growth period of 131days, with an average plant height of 114.1 cm, 16.4 fruit branches, 24.6 bolls per plant, 5.8g per boll seed cotton, 40.2% lint percentage of large sample, 41.3% lint percentage of small sample, 10.3g seed index, 88.2% pre-frost flower rate, resistant to Fusarium wilt and susceptible to Verticillium wilt.
