Affected by rain and snow, vegetables enter the off-season in December.
According to the monitoring of the vegetable production Information Network of the Ministry of Agriculture, the supply of vegetables in November was basically the same as the same period last year, and the wholesale prices on the ground rose from the same period last year. In December, with the supply off-season, North China and Northeast China are affected by haze overcast and snowy weather for a long time, which is not conducive to the growth and development of vegetables. It is expected that the wholesale price of vegetables will still rise.
The supply of vegetables in November was basically the same as the same period last year. The output of vegetables at the information monitoring sites in 580 key vegetable counties was 1.11 million tons, which was basically the same as that of the same period last year and month-on-month. This month, most of the central and eastern regions have little sunshine for a long time, and most of the south of the Yangtze River, western and northern parts of South China have more precipitation and high intensity, resulting in sluggish growth of autumn and winter vegetables and tight supply of some varieties. From a sub-regional point of view, it is characterized by "one increase, one decrease and four equalization". Due to the increase in planting area in northern high latitude summer and autumn vegetables, the output increased by 15.4% compared with the same period last year; the output of summer and autumn vegetables in the Loess Plateau decreased by 7.9% compared with the same period last year; the output of summer and autumn vegetables on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, the dominant areas of winter and spring vegetables in South China and southwest hot areas, the dominant areas of facilities vegetables in Huang-Huaihai and the Bohai Sea, and the dominant areas of winter and spring vegetables in the Yangtze River basin were basically the same as the same period last year. In terms of categories, among the 20 types of vegetables, the output of five types of vegetables, such as cabbage, cowpea, cauliflower, carrots and peppers, increased by more than 3% compared with the same period last year; the output of four types of vegetables, such as wax gourd, bean, cucumber, and leek, decreased by more than 3% compared with the same period last year; and the output of other kinds of vegetables was basically stable.
The wholesale prices of vegetables rose in November compared with the same period last year. Vegetable production has entered the off-season, and prices are on the rise. In November, the average wholesale price of vegetables at information monitoring sites in 580 key vegetable counties was 3.30 yuan / kg, up 7.1 percent from the same period last year and 11.9 percent from the previous month. The average prices in the upper, middle and lower thirties are 3.04 yuan / kg, 3.25 yuan / kg and 3.62 yuan / kg respectively. In terms of varieties, 15 kinds of vegetables, including cucumber, round eggplant, trailing beans, leek, zucchini, red pepper, green pepper, fruit cucumber, green leek, dwarf bean, long eggplant, green pepper, color pepper, tomato and white-skinned wax gourd, increased by more than 10% month-on-month. Lettuce, Chinese cabbage, celery, white garlic, celery, radish and other vegetables decreased by more than 10%. The prices of other varieties are basically stable.
Temperature and light are not conducive to the growth and development of vegetables in December, and prices are expected to rise. According to statistics, at the end of November, the area of vegetables in the field at the information monitoring sites of 580 key vegetable counties was 1.2 million mu, which was basically the same as the same as the same period last year, down 12.7% from the previous month. Among them, the field area of four kinds of vegetables, such as zucchini, cauliflower, carrots and common cabbage, increased by more than 3% at the end of the month compared with the same period last year. According to expert analysis, in December, the temperature is getting lower and lower, and the light time becomes shorter, which is not conducive to the growth and development of vegetables, and it is expected that the wholesale price of the land is still on the rise. The continuous haze overcast and snowy weather in North and Northeast China last month affected the listing of facility vegetables this winter, and it is expected that the supply of eggplant fruit vegetables will be tight in the later period.
