Yangmai 16 (Yang0Mei126) is a new spring mid-maturity variety bred by Yang 91F138 and Yang 90-30 by Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Lixiahe area of Jiangsu Province.
The whole growth period of this variety is equivalent to that of Yangmai 158. Long awn, white shell, spindle-shaped spike, red grain, hard. The seedlings are erect and the plant type is loose. The plant height is 90 cm and the resistance to fertilizer and lodging is general. There are 260000 effective panicles per mu, 38 grains per panicle and 37 grams per thousand grains. In inoculation identification, it was susceptible to scab and sheath blight, and its disease resistance was similar to that of Yangmai 158. The three-year average result of quality analysis is that the content of crude protein is 14.2%, the content of wet gluten is 32.2%, and the stability time is 4.3 minutes.
This variety participated in the regional trial of Jiangsu Province in 2001-2003, with an average yield of 336.1 kg per mu in two years, and 398kg per mu in the production trial in 2003-2004. It is suitable for planting under the condition of middle and high fertility in Huainan wheat area of Jiangsu Province, and the suitable sowing date is from late October to early November.
