1. Set up a place

Crystal prawns should be kept in cool places where the sun cannot shine directly. This is the basic rule of breeding. Avoid windows and places that are vulnerable to external influence as much as possible. If there is more than one aquarium at home, the aquarium for crystal shrimp should be placed at eye level to help breeders identify the health of crystal shrimp.

In addition, it is best to remove the lid of the aquarium that raises crystal shrimp, so as to facilitate the maintenance of the aquarium. If you are worried that the crystal shrimp may jump out of the aquarium, just lower the water level in the aquarium properly.

two。 Equipment

For beginners or lovers who have just started raising crystal shrimp, if you use a small aquarium, it is best to use the 60cm aquarium with stable water quality and sufficient water quantity. If the amount of raising is small, you can also consider using a smaller aquarium.

In general, it is best to use a bottom filter in feeding. However, the bottom filter will make it difficult to clean the grass root and filter bottom sand, and occasionally the PH value and hardness will decrease, so special attention should be paid to it. In particular, regular change of water and maintenance of stable water quality are the key points in breeding.

Of course, some enthusiasts will also use biochemical cotton and external closed filters. However, no matter which kind of filtration is used, we should pay attention to the water suction, and it is best to add filter cotton to protect the young crystal shrimp from being sucked away by the current.

For breeders who use upper filters or external filters, biochemical cotton or biochemical ceramic filter rings, pole filter materials, magnetic energy biochemical cotton and other filter materials should be used as much as possible in the filter tank. The utility model is characterized in that the surface area is large and the propagation speed of nitrifying bacteria is fast, so it is not easy to cause blockage of the filter device.

3. Water temperature

When raising crystal shrimp in summer, the water temperature of the aquarium should be controlled within 30 degrees Celsius. Because the dissolved oxygen in the summer water is consumed quickly, the amount of dissolved oxygen in the aquarium should be increased. In winter, electric heaters should be used to control the water temperature at no less than 18 degrees Celsius, but protective covers should be added to prevent young shrimp from being hurt. Therefore, the water temperature of crystal shrimp had better be stabilized at 25 degrees Celsius.

4. Water quality

Crystal shrimp belongs to crustaceans, so its living environment can not lack calcium carbonate, and the pH (PH) and total hardness (GH) of feeding water should not be too low. In general, the pH (PH) in the aquarium is about 6.5, and the total hardness (GH) is controlled at about 5. Therefore, raising crustaceans in soft water with low pH (PH) will have a serious impact on their bodies. Therefore, some filter sands with high contents of minerals and trace elements should be used as the bottom sand in the aquarium. At the same time, the use of water quality conditioners that can maintain the acidity, alkalinity and total hardness of water quality, such as pure natural water quality conditioners such as GEOLIQUID, can not only maintain the total hardness of water, reduce the impact of changes in water quality on crystal shrimp, but also maintain the stability of water quality for a long time.

The numerical changes of water quality must be carefully observed. A stable water quality environment is extremely important for raising crystal shrimp. Remember not to change the feeding water in large quantities, even in aquariums with large amounts of nitrate, only the amount of water needed to reduce the nitrate value needs to be changed. The amount of water must not exceed 50% of the volume of the aquarium, and even if it is to replace 50% of the water, it must be completed in two stages.

5. Reproduction

In the process of reproduction, the female shrimp begins to mate with the male shrimp after peeling, and then conceives eggs. The reason for molting may be due to the indirect stimulation of changing water, and sometimes the gonads of the body will be stimulated by the change of living environment. This is mainly due to the supplement of humic acid (acid produced by plants) in the water, which makes the female shrimp mistake it for the rainy season in the tropical rainforest. The origin of crystal shrimp is subtropical rain forest, which is divided into dry season and rainy season. During the rainy season, a large number of acidic substances such as fallen leaves in the woods flow into the river. Crystal shrimp feel the arrival of its breeding period through the change of water quality, and thus enter the state of mating and reproduction. In other words, the use of periodic change of water and in a specific time, add an appropriate amount of acid to the aquarium, can stimulate the reproductive behavior of crystal shrimp. In addition, crystal shrimp in breeding or male shrimp in the process of chasing female shrimp, the body color will gradually become lighter, this is because courtship behavior consumes a lot of body energy, and will gradually return to normal after the breeding period.

The living habits of crystal shrimp use microorganisms and bryophytes as bait. In captivity, red worms, spinach and some artificial diets for fish are generally fed. Basically, crystal shrimp eats anything, which is omnivorous, but it also depends on the situation of the aquarium. If crystal shrimp are fed with red worms, their excretion rate will become faster, so that the water pollution in the aquarium will be accelerated accordingly. And increase the burden of biological filtration, will also affect the growth of some aquatic plants. In addition, when feeding spinach, remember to use pesticide-free spinach. Because once there are pesticides in the aquarium, all crystal shrimp will perish.

6. Disease prevention and treatment

Molting is the most common disease of crystal shrimp. The symptoms are as follows:

A, not completely desquamate. After molting, the shell is still connected to the body, which is due to lack of calcium. Therefore, it is necessary to add various minerals regularly to maintain the stability of the total hardness in the water.

B, death occurs immediately after peeling, usually in the hot summer. Due to the addition of a large number of fungicides in tap water, the body surface of crystal shrimp does not have any protection after peeling, and its resistance to the outside world becomes weak. Therefore, when changing the water, it should be treated in advance to make the water quality as close as possible to the water quality in the aquarium.
