Morphological features:

Hanxincao is a perennial evergreen herb; the stem is solitary or several tufted, originating from a short rhizome, 12-28 cm high, thin, square columnar, puberulent. Leaves herbaceous to subpapery, cordate-orbicular to ovoid, sometimes elliptic, 1.5-2.6 cm long, apex obtuse or rounded, base rounded or more cordate, margin rounded-serrate, pilose or strigose on both surfaces; petiole 0.4-1.4 cm long or beyond.

Flowers bloom in spring and summer; flowers blue-purple, opposite, several arranged in terminal racemes; Calyx 2.5 mm long, campanulate, 2-lipped, orbicular scutellum on back of posterior lobe ca. 1.5 mm, increasing to 3 mm in fruit Corolla 1.4-1.8 cm long, puberulent, crown tube base forward knee-shaped, upper straight extension, cornice two-lipped, upper lip helmet-shaped, microconcave head, lower lip lobes larger, ovoid, middle constricted; stamens 4, didynamous stamens. Traits:

The whole grass is 10 to 25 centimeters long. The roots are slender. The stem is four-columnar and branched. Leaves opposite, stipitate; leaf blade wrinkled, flattened and oval, 1-2 cm long, 0.8-1.5 cm wide, green-brown, apex obtuse, base heart-shaped, margin obtusely serrate, both surfaces densely fine hairs.

Racemes terminal, Corolla blue, mostly deciduous. The nutlet is horizontal, the residual calyx is bell-shaped, and there is a saccular shield scale on the back of the calyx tube, which is "ear-dug".

The breath is slight, the taste is slightly bitter and salty. Quality requirements: fine stems and branches, many leaves, green-brown, with "ear dig"-shaped fruit branches are the best. Packaging and storage: bundled and pressed into a handful, plus mat sealed, stored in a dry place.
