Last Updated: 2024/11/08, Fox farrowing time is mostly concentrated in the night and early morning, the whole process of parturition is mostly 2-3 hours. After giving birth, most female foxes can eat the placenta and lick the mucus from the young fox. Individual first birth fox will not care, often do not eat placenta. The foxes are suckling after birth and the lactation period is 55-60 days. Most female foxes can take good care of their young foxes under normal nutritional conditions, but a few female foxes that have no milk or lack milk, or have not given birth (including stillbirth), and those with diseases will give birth.

The time for foxes to give birth is mostly concentrated at night and early in the morning, and the whole process of delivery is usually 2-3 hours. After giving birth, most female foxes can eat the placenta and lick the slime off the baby foxes. Individual newborn foxes do not know how to care and often do not eat placenta.

Young foxes can be fed immediately after birth, and the lactation period is 55-60 days. Most female foxes can take good care of their young foxes under normal nutritional conditions, but a few foxes that are first-born, non-breast-fed or lacked milk, or those who have not finished giving birth (including stillbirth), do not take care of their young foxes.

After giving birth, breeders are required to check the birth situation in time, including whether the female fox strips off the placenta, whether the umbilical cord is broken, whether the umbilical cord is entangled, and so on.

For foxes that do not take care of their young or abandon their young, mothers who do not have milk, and those who give birth to a large number of foxes, they should find a babysitter to raise them instead of foxes. The nanny fox should choose the one with strong motherhood and a small number of offspring, and the size of the baby fox is roughly the same as that of the foxes raised on behalf of the baby fox. In order to foster successfully, the foxes should be wiped with grass or feces from the foxes' nest, and the two litters of foxes should be fully mixed. If the fox group is small and the extra baby fox can not find a babysitter, you can also use the suitable mother raccoon dog, dog, cat and so on. There is really no other way, but also artificial breastfeeding. Breastfeeding utensils use a 10 ml syringe, put on a hose used as a valve core, and feed cow and goat milk that is kept at 40-42 degrees after pasteurization, 4-6 times a day. Forced lactation should be carried out for those who do not have milk because the mother fox will not take care of the baby fox, that is, the mother fox will be forcibly fixed with one person, and the other person will hold the baby fox in his hand and ask the young fox to force milk.

The survival rate of newborn foxes is higher when semi-closed delivery room or non-interference delivery box is used and nursing care is strengthened at the same time. To give birth to foxes should let nature take its course, with as little interference as possible, and there will be no major problems in giving birth.
