Xushu 18 was bred by Xuzhou Institute of Agricultural Sciences in 1972 with Xindazi as female parent and Huabei 52-45 as male parent. The original line number is 732518. It is an excellent variety suitable for both cutting and drying, flour making, food and feeding. Xushu 18, with red skin and white meat, has high and stable yield, wide adaptability and good comprehensiveness. it won the first prize of scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Agriculture in 1980 and the first prize of national invention in 1982. It is a leading variety in large-scale production in China, accounting for 3% of the total planting area of sweet potato in China. As Xushu 18 has been popularized for nearly 30 years, the hybrid degradation of varieties is serious, and the yield is in the hovering stage. Virus-free Xushu 18 restored the excellent seed character of the original Xushu 18, increasing the yield by 20% to 40% over the original Xushu 18 mu, more than twice as high as that of the original Xushu 18, with a general yield of 3500 kg per mu of spring potato and 2500 kg of summer potato per mu. The dry rate increased by 1% to 4%, the drying rate was 30% to 35%, and the flour yield was 20% to 25%.
